Spring Tag- Corkboard Tags

Altered Corkboard Spring Tag

As promised the first of my Four Seasons Tags, SPRING!

When I was deciding on my Altered Corkboard project I decided to use the Four Seasons as an inspirational point.  This way no matter what time of year I am crafting I can look at my board for lots of ideas, techniques and supplies.

For the Spring tag I just learned about making Mosaic Butterflies.  Of course they needed to show up here.  I went for a fresh wet spring like feel with the Umbrella Man die, glue rain drops and metal flower accents.
Spring always has fresh green grass, flowers and butterflies.  The grass is left over fake Christmas Tree branches, trimmed and glued.  I punched metal flowers using oven liner, then inked with alcohol inks and finished off with colourful brads.  A crystal blue butterfly, a frog and a Stella Beer cap...summer is coming afterall.

For Umbrella Mans umbrella I added some dimension using honeycomb paper.  Third times the charm cutting it out.  I'm new to Honeycomb Paper, but the learning curve was quick. I learned I needed to cut half of the umbrella and not all of it.  That way when you open it it honeycombs open.  I made raindrops with my hot glue and attached them to hang off as if they are dripping.

I topped the umbrella with a the TH crown, embossed gold and topped with some pearl embellishments.  They were white so I coloured with my alcohol ink.

The house is embossed with the TH brick, inked with Painted Peel and then sanded for a weathered look.  More flowers and water dips were added.

Come Back tomorrow for the Summer Tag.

Journaling Tuck Spots and Pockets

It is official... I am addicted to Journaling.  This is an inspiration post... why?  I may have become lost in my creativity... it happens.
Scroll through the the photos for ideas.  I have been inspired by my fellow journalers too.
I kept the cover of Eileen Hull's new Journalsimple with a flipped cabinet card and some crackle paste stenciling.

Inside there are pages of Memoranda paper and Idea-Ology from Scrap ShotzMarch Scrapbook Kit.

A mini book stuffed in a pocket too.

Nicole Wright Designs Fallen Blossomis used on the tag, stamped and watercolored with worn lipstick oxide ink.

I used pages from my 115 year old art journal to create another mini.  Stamping and watercoloring throughout each page with Garden Flower and my stamp set Fallen Blossom.

Tuck spots and pockets for stuffing notes.

The March Kit with the new Memoranda paper is perfect on it's own.  But I still cut it up and collaged with it.

I fussy cut a found relative since I am still trying to get my hands on …

NEW Make Art Blendable Dye Inks

I am so excited to be apart of the new Wendy Vecchi "Make Art Blendable Dye Ink" release.  These inks have the robust colouring of the Archivals however you can blend them!  Even combining colours to make new ones.   Ohhh delicious!

Watch the quick video below how I blended.

Ohhhh they create stunning colours.

I even dipped my ribbon for some colour!

The butterflies are an intense rainbow of colour.

Each colour is blended over the other creating hues of other colours.

I kept the tag simple so the inks could shine with these vibrant inks.

Make Art Blending Dye Inks are a must!  Thanks for taking a look.

Watercoloring with Butterflies & Oxides

The Eileen Hull Inspiration Team has been sharing tutorials all month long.  I do have a video tutorial for this card but it won't be read for awhile.  Hey, it happens.  I at least have a couple of photo's until the whole video is posted on Creative Scrapbooker Magazines website.

Loving the new Oxide inks especially as we approach those soft easter pallets.

A little stamping.

I know it's not a box or cool journal.  One of my favourite dies is the Birds & Butterflies thinlit.  Yep, there are pretty little dies perfect for card making too.

I love the intricate butterfly to layer over.

A simple card and no it's not even a journal.

I will share the video when it's all done and posted.  I will even embed it in the post too.
Onto next month...
