Pulling the Swag

Another Sneak Peek.

But shhhh... don't tell anyone I'm being sneaky on my blog!  It's one of those things, if I show you in a separate post then I won't overload the post this belongs with...if that makes any sense!

OK lets face it.  The minute we all saw the Prancing Deer and Sleigh this had to happen.  I knew it, you knew it and well all those other creative people knew it.  I have been planning this for weeks!  Recently, Emma over at That's Life had posted one similar as well as countless other crafters.

I mean, it's sooo cool it gets it's very own post.

Let's check it out!

I wanted a big anchor piece for the project that shall not be named...

I inked my prancing deer with gathering twigs then sprinkled some vintage photo distress embossing powder.  They look amazing like this.  Then I off set them so you could see both.

I used the holly, beaded and snowflake garland to attach the deer and sleigh.  Then attached a couple of mirrored stars on the sleigh.

I attached 2 sleighs with these little craft wooden blocks I have.  The deer have them too so spacing is perfect.

I cut 3 movers and shapers mini retro packages added some paper, distress glitter and glossy accents.  Then I tucked in some holiday greens and tattered pinecone.

I cut an extra bow from the mini retro packages for the rear.  I added some mini holly leaves and red jingle berries.  Festive!

I have been holding onto this enamel tag since last winter from when I did my "Lab" room makeover!  Just for something like this.

I crackled the prancing deer antlers then attached these small jingles.  I don't know...they just needed to be there!

I am happy this darn sleigh is done after about 6 weeks of planning it.  Hard to build it when you don't have the dies yet.  Stupid waiting!

Well, I do hope you like my top secret post.  Seriously...no one can know!

Thanks for wandering over and making sure no one followed you.  Watch for the full post SOON...like next week

Challenges are fun...and challenging.  Stretch your creativity and try some.

Journaling Tuck Spots and Pockets

It is official... I am addicted to Journaling.  This is an inspiration post... why?  I may have become lost in my creativity... it happens.
Scroll through the the photos for ideas.  I have been inspired by my fellow journalers too.
I kept the cover of Eileen Hull's new Journalsimple with a flipped cabinet card and some crackle paste stenciling.

Inside there are pages of Memoranda paper and Idea-Ology from Scrap ShotzMarch Scrapbook Kit.

A mini book stuffed in a pocket too.

Nicole Wright Designs Fallen Blossomis used on the tag, stamped and watercolored with worn lipstick oxide ink.

I used pages from my 115 year old art journal to create another mini.  Stamping and watercoloring throughout each page with Garden Flower and my stamp set Fallen Blossom.

Tuck spots and pockets for stuffing notes.

The March Kit with the new Memoranda paper is perfect on it's own.  But I still cut it up and collaged with it.

I fussy cut a found relative since I am still trying to get my hands on …

Mixed Media Haunted Tombstone

Ohhhhh help me.... It's my favourite time of year.  Not that I needed to tell you.  I do love Halloween and all the creepy things that go bump in the night.  OK, not really I am a chicken.
I recently received some brush love from Tracy Moreau.  How excited was I... ummm BLOWN AWAY.  You will be seeing these Dynasty Brushes from me a lot!  Like all the time.

I put my tombstone together which is an Etcetera Tag with some pieces to creep it out.  Then pulled together some Deco Art Media Paints.  YUM!

I used the Medium Flat Brush to apply the paint.  It gets in everywhere.  For the back I used a baby wipe to apply the grey.  I mean... it's the back right.

Oh ya texture paste people.

MAGICAL!  I applied a variety of browns, orange, green and black with my flat brushes.  These brushes went right over my textures and blended beautifully.  JUST AMAZING!  Add accessories... like the inky kind and die cut kind.

TA DA...

To create even more texture Baked Texture everywhere.

SHINY!

What I learned with Gel Press

LET GO...  that's all!
No really, I have never done this before and always wanted to try.  So it would be a good idea to start with... umm oh I don't know... card stock for a card background.  Nope, I went for 2 pages.  I told myself the same thing I tell in my workshops...
***WATCH MY VIDEO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST***
"TRUST THE PROCESS"

Check out my quick video for the good stuff.

A few good things... ok AWESOME THINGS!

Not seen in the video but I did the linen side of the media journal with collage paper and OH MY GOODNESS!

SERIOUSLY... LETTER IT goes on EVERYTHING!

A closer look at the collage tissue.

Collage Words are a perfect layer.

I used Scribble Sticks to pinpoint colours.

I can't believe I did this!

Scribble sticks are the bomb!

These 2 pages look awesome.

So what are your thoughts on my first Gel Press art journal pages.  Did I do OK?
I love the freeing process of just smearing around paint.  I love all the layers of paint, textures with stencilling…
