Scrap your Summer

Join me on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Blog for a Scrapbook Layout...?  Oh yeah... I went all scrappy for this post.  I am sharing my NEW about to release TINBIT TRAVELS Collection with Wild Whisper!    Swing by the    Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Blog  for a full tutorial!   PIN IT   EAT. SLEEP. CRAFT. {repeat}

Oh Tannenbaum

My oldest son wants a Christmas Tree in our basement (where he lives...like all trolls) so I made him a tree.  I saw and pinned this amazing tree HERE.  I thought it was such a fun Christmas décor project.  I love being able to use all my movers and shapers as ornaments.

Every year I build gift giveaways for staff where my husband works.  I saw this tree and knew this was what I was going to make.  It's easy to build and OMG so fun!  My GF gave me a bunch of scrap cedar for burning when I go camping.  But I decided it would make a better tree than wood for my campfire.

I hope you like:)

I started by cutting a lot of my Holiday Movers and Shapers then inking and decorating them.

I made 5 cuts of each die... 8 different cuts.

There were 40 all together.

I cut the back strip to 16".  There are 4 branches I cut at 4", 7", 9" and 11".  I left enough room at the bottom for the ATB 3".  When it's attached there's an inch between the box and bottom branch.  This is when you can "glue and screw" the branches.  This will give it strength.  I used 3/4" screws and wood glue.

Once the glue was dry, (overnight) I was able to give my trees color.  For this I used peeled paint distress spray stain.

All 5 trees front and back.

I cut and decorated my Eileen Hull XL Square Die then attached the Christmas Tree to it with hot glue.

I cut strips of Core paper 1" and ran it though my snowflake texture fade for "ribbon".  Then I cut the Tied Bow large bow and embossed that too.  For some shimmer I used Rangers Icicle Stickles on all the embossed bits.

I cut some mini holly leaves and attached a shiny red jingle to the top.  For the bottom of my Woodland tree I used the smallest of Blocks/ Cubes die.  Covered in fired brick distress glitter and tied off with crinkle ribbon.

I cut my jumbo tattered pinecone and more Icicle Stickles.

I knew for my Christmas tree I wanted use one of my inked up Woodland Trees.  I was inspired by California Girl's awesome Tree Ornament and thought it would be a perfect fit.  So, I made one.  Adding beads from the $1 Store and a mirrored star for the topper.

I recently won over at A Vintage Journey a GC for Country View Crafts in the UK.  I ordered the Festive Gent.  As soon as he arrived I decorated him and tucked him behind the tree.

Ornaments
I cut couple of my Stacked Snowflakes for the top of the tree and coated them in distress glitter.

A Staked Snowflake and mini wreath. I tacked a little hot glue on the backside for the twine to adhere too.  This way they won't slide off.

Mini Jingle bell with embellishments and Mini Toy Soldier.

Mini Bell and I cut the holly from the St. Nick die for the top and a Mini Ice Skate.

I cut the Christmas Cardinal and Mini Reindeer.  This brings 8 ornaments for the tree.

For the 4 Trees that will be gifts for staff I made some pillow boxes to good some goodies.

Since this is a movers and shapers die I place the mini tree in the pillow box and cut.  I added some acetate and a small mirrored star on top.  Then stamped from the Deco Christmas set.

I cut the mini reindeer for this pillow box.  I then added holiday greens, jumbo tattered pinecone, Thinlits labels and JOY from Holiday Words: Script

For this pillow box more holiday greens, mini reindeer, tattered pinecone and some wee red jingles.  I love this wood Merry Christmas Tag from Southern Ridge Trading CoI inked with peeled paint and fired brick distress spray stain.

All 5 Christmas Trees.  These stand about 16"x 11".

The trees were fast and easy to build.  It was the ornaments that took the time.  I hope you like this fun Holiday Home Décor project.  I found so much inspiration!
