Chalk Art Cards

I recently taught a class on the very popular Chalk Art Technique.  We had so much fun creating these cards and getting all chalky!  Everyone was a little nervous going through the heating but in the end I think they all understand how to create these chalk cards.

Here's what we made.

I used a few dies to make this fun card including writing desk and torn notebook.  One of my favourite edge dies.  Love to layer!
The only way to get this effect is using the Antiquities Frosted Crystal Embossing Powder.  Clear embossing powder doesn't work.  I tried;)

I really love the feather cut with water colour paper.  It has a fantastic texture.

I made a sample for my class so you can see the  difference when you over heat the embossing powder.  You can't even tell what the word is!  Heating to a mat finish is the key to success.

For such a detailed stamp all the words really pop!
My last card using the ornate frame die. What a great way to display the sentiment.

Can't wait for all the new Tim, Sizzix and Ranger goodies to start heading north.  This time of year is a hard time to create waiting for all the ideas I have with the new stuff coming.

  5. Hi Nicole. I just wanted to take a second to thank you for the very sweet comment you left on my final post for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge as a member of their design team. You are always so supportive and I thank you for that! I think your work is amazing...ALL of it! I am a huge fan and wish you all of the best in your future art journey. These chalkboard cards are awesome! I love how you mixed in some of Tim's on the edge die cuts as well as the pen and ink and ornate frame. So cool! Here's to an even more creative 2014! <3 Candy
