Union Jack Headboard

Not just a pretty face (even though I kinda am) and I'm not just a paper crafter.  It's Thanksgiving Day today so I get an extra day to craft this headboard for my daughter!  My husband and I decided on peg board since we wanted something a little cooler than just a flat surface.

It took my husband about 10 minutes to measure TO SCALE this Union Jack flag.  My daughter wanted it Vintage (just like me) so I just kinda winged it.  I used latex paint I had left over from painting 2 of my kids rooms.

Once painted, I sanded down the edges of the painted surface.  I used a rag to lightly apply some of my Walnut Stain.  Where I sanded it soaks in more.

Once I had it all sanded and distressed I painted the extra board with black.  This is where the extra comes in handed for the headboard.  It's covered by pillows.

Again with a rag, I applied a light coating of varnish to protect the finish.

Here we have installed her headboard along with the overhead lighting.  Remember my BEATLES decor project.  It's all coming together!

Lights on, a perfect spot to read.

You can see all the distressing really works out.

We've been planning this for a couple of months so it's great to have it done.
