Altered Letters

Father's Day was so long ago.  You may recall a project I posted for my husband's Father's Day gift HERE.  Well he did love the gift but was puzzled why the letters were plain white?  After all it's me and nothing is ever left as it should be.  It's always being glued, inked or altered somehow.  I explained I wanted the letters to be plain for the kids photo's.  SERIOUSLY!  I'm getting the stink eye with these plain letters!  I promised then that I would do something with them so he could start decorating his new out of province office.  Here we are 2 months later and about an hour of crafting I have finished the DAD!

I simply cut a 6x6 sheet of paper, brushed on Modge Podge to the letter and placed it on.  My very talented budding photographer niece Kelsy took this photo of my daughter a few weeks ago.

My oldest son when we were in Yellowstone last month.  Hands down our favorite photo of him. The metal clips are Graphics 45.  I bought them for my Moms Canvas HERE for the Remember clip.  Finally, I found something for the last 3!

The youngest man in my life.  Once the paper dried, I sanded the edges and inked.  Then dragged more modge podge over the top to seal it.  The glue drags through the Walnut stain causing it to brown the paper more.  Each photo is inked, punched and layered on a scallop punch.  Then clipped into place.

I glued the the clips into place with gorilla glue and hot glue.  The hot glue is to keep it in place while the gorilla glue dries.

Now my husband has his letters all done and ready for his new second office. While he's away from home he can see his kids with 3 of his favorite photo's.  This whole project runs about $15.  And as the kids grow you can change out the photo's!
