Well, I had a lovely treat this past weekend and went to Vernon BC and spent the weekend at Sparkling Hill Resort. It was the prettiest place I have ever stayed and my husband and I spent the weekend "Spa'ing"! Truth be told my husband had a work function we attended at the Resorts Ballroom so we sucked it up and spent the day being pampered. As a Thank You to the people that planned this lovely weekend I made them a tag.

I picked up these Glitz stamps last week. I love this vintage Ferris Wheel. I stamped and clear embossed to get it top POP once the distress ink was smooched on.

Check out this ticket. These were the "drink" tickets we used. I kept mine and used one on the tag. I added a mini vintage clip and hammered out these snaps. I stamped a vintage invoice for the background. All these elements tie in the early days of this industry.

Check out these letters in wood. Found these at Walmart for $1.

I kept this tag simple to make the stamp, letters and ticket pop. Keeping the colour tones with the vintage look of my husbands family business back from the early 1900's. The family business sold but my husband is still in the industry and I'm profoundly proud of him.

Back for a moment to the spa because I have to tell you what I did if you didn't already hear! I went ~~forced~~ to a Cold Sauna...that would be 3 min spent in -110C. We created our own snow. There are not words to tell you how cold it was. We went into the sauna's, steam rooms, salt water pools and I had a volcanic mud wrap. Ya, it was pretty awesome.

Vintage Valentine and GIVEAWAY

Finally I was able to spend 45 min in my craft room. I have been cooking a baking a lot for my family over the past few weeks which has cut into my crafty time. Honestly, after all the holiday crafting I just needed something else to focus on.

I got some new goodies and wanted to play. I picked up Tim Holtz "Umbrella Man" die and a vintage stamp set with amusement park images. I really like this die. I'm not too sure why I do, it just feels so retro UK to me. It's one of those dies I look at and think how much I like the look of it. So I grabbed it.

This vintage stamp set is by Glitz called Afternoon Muse. I stamped the corner stamp at opposite corners in versamark and then clear embossed to create a resist. This inks are all TH Distress inks, layered for this pretty Valentine look. I attached a vintage lock to a hook clip as an added layer.

The Umbrella Man is cut 3 times. I cut him first with a cereal box, then layered pattern paper and touched him off with a cork Umbrella. I usually see him in black. Every time I saw this die all I could think of was using pattern paper.

Save everything...I have been holding onto these blue "TICKET"...tickets since December! I know...how cool am I! The "LUCKY IN LOVE" ticket is stamped from my new SMS Crazy for You stamp set, just in time for Valentines. I attached the Tickets with my Tiny Attacher...love this tool!

Use Diamond Glaze and coat your gear for a glossy look.

I distressed some TH Gears, metal clip and the definition of "LOVE AFFAIR". Here's a TIP, if you haven't already thought of it. Use a dictionary and cut out the word and definition to add a unique layer to your project.

YEP, I made this one! It's been almost 2 weeks since I was in my craft room. I guess everyone needs a wee break now and then! HEY, GUESS WHAT! I'm going out of town this weekend....NO KIDS! Seriously, that never happens. My husband has a work function and the rest of the time we'll be slumming it in a fancy A$$ Spa!

Wish I made this...

Isn't this a gorgeous card! I wish I had made it. However, I understand I did inspire it. My girlfriend made is pretty Easel card for a friend. I ask my extremely crafty friends to send me photo's of their projects so I can post them for you to see. She used her Tim Holtz die with the dress form to cut out the form in cork. Then added some cheesecloth and lacy ribbon as layers. JUST LOVE IT!

I love all the layers and what a treat when you open the card. Easel cards are my favorite to make especially if you want to add some heavy layers. They display so well.

So pretty opened up. I love the pearl accents around the dress form neck. And the film strip in the background.

Sorry, I've been MIA this last bit. Last week I had a 4 day migraine. So this week I feel like I'm playing catch on cleaning the house and piles of laundry!

SMS Valentines Blog Hop and Release

The Scrappy Moms Stamps DT is hopping with "LOVE" on the mind just in time for Valentines. You have finally made it to the end and I hope along the way you have some great inspiration for your special Valentine. If you are just arriving on my Blog you'll want to start fresh over at the Boss Lady Melanie's Blog. If you have hopped and made it all the way to the end then you should be arriving from Trish's Blog.

I made some Valentines treat bags for my Kids, complete with little shovels. My set of "Crazy for You" didn't arrive in time:( I know sad. However, it is a Valentine's Hop so I used my Love Notes and Dancing Circles sets.

I used the #2 tags to tie around each shovel and stamped this sentiment from Love Notes. I punched my MS heart punch (the edge one) with these teeny hearts then glued them on the tag.

For this tag I used the "I Love You" sentiment from Dancing Circles, punched and added button with Twine. Pretty!

For the last tag I used a gear from the Tim Holtz die and popped up the #14 stamp. Then attached my XOXO sentiment from Love Notes.

For all the tags I stamped a Frech Script in versa mark, embossed and inked with the distress inks Fire Brick, Victorian Velvet and Spun Sugar.

Look how adorable this set is. I cannot wait to get using it. I already have some projects lined up waiting for it to arrive!

Homemade Doughnuts Oh Oh...

These are pretty close to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We did have a Krispy Kreme and we called it "Slice of Heaven" But as waist sizes grew, customers dwindled so Krispy Kreme left. My kids are still on Christmas Break so instead of crafting I've been baking. Two reasons 1; I get to play with my new Kitchen Aid Mixer and learn to make bread and 2; they sound like a herd of Elephants when I'm downstairs.

I was perusing Pinterest this morning like I do every morning and came across this pin. I like this no nonsense recipe. I will post the website and link to the recipe at the bottom of the post. After letting the dough rise for an hour it doubles in size. A little four is needed as it's a bit sticky. Make sure to roll out to 1/2" thickness. I went to thin the first time and had to redo it.

I used a large round cookie cutter to cut my donuts. Then to cut the holes I used the metal lid from my Martini Shaker. It worked but I may look for a teeny round cutter. Since I have COLD Granite I like to rise my dough on a butcher block and get the dough elevated from the granite. Really helps for the 30 min rise.

While the donuts are rising make the glaze and ready the oil and pan. I really like this glaze as it's not too thick and not crazy sweet. Then set it aside. I have a gas oven so it tends to cook a little hot. I did however heat the oil to med heat and didn't need it any hotter. Once you see the sides go golden brown about 30 seconds it's time to flip and brown the other side. I have a huge pan so I kept it to 6 donuts at a time to keep it manageable.

Take them right out of the oil and let them cool on a rack. I placed cookie sheets under to catch any drippage. Once they are slightly cooled dip the tops of each donut into your glaze and place back on the rack.

I did sneak one while it was warm. However, like any good Krispy Kreme a quick 10 sec heat in the microwave with make them warm and soft. To make these amazing treats yourself check out the "99 Cent Chef" for this great recipe and more.

This is my first time making doughnuts. It's a very easy recipe and really fun to make. My recipe yielded 20 doughnuts and 8 doughnut holes (at my sons request) and I assume that has everything to do with cutter size. Although, these doughnuts are a pretty good size. The best part...I know what's in these doughnuts:o}

Kids are back to school next week so I will be back to playing with paper.

Creating with Flour

I've been baking again. Today I tried making Bagels. If you were on Facebook I was updating my progress. And if you've been around awhile you know I love to cook as much as I love to craft. Well, Santa brought me a new Kitchen Aid Mixer, Professional 600! This baby is built to make bread and lots of it. It will take me awhile to learn to make bread so here's my first kick at making Bagels I found on Pinterest.

I picked this recipe as I'm too impatient to wait overnight to make my bread. This recipe is very easy to make in your stand up mixer. This recipe calls for 6c-7c of flour and my "old" KA Mixer would not have like that much but my new one does. This recipe yields in my case 16 med/large bagels. I divided the dough in half after a 2 hour rise and made 8 bagels out of each half.

Here are 6 of the sesame bagels I baked after giving them a boiling bath in water. Ugh should have taken a photo of that for you...

I made a selection of bagels, 6 sesame, 6 cheese and 4 cinnamon sugar. I thought my kids would like that with my Apple Butter. And they did! There's only 1 of those left.

My youngest took a bite out of his warm cinnamon sugar bagel.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I thought I'd start 2012 off with a simple quick THANK YOU card! After weeks of gifting, parties and events it's sometimes nice to send out "Just a Note" of thanks. These cards are fast and easy to make. I simply stamped a music note background stamp then distressed with Walnut distress ink.

I borrowed this wee stamp then punched it out with SU word window punch.

In all I made 20 cards in under 2 hours. On the inside I used a Scrappy Moms Stamps "Thank You" stamp.

Looking forward to a new year of crafting. I have lots of idea's and projects planned:)

New Years Anyone? A fitting last post for 2011, New Years Banners. I have 2 evening planned with friends and so I wanted to make them each a New Years Banner. Truth be told, I wanted to make one banner in silver and one in gold. It's amazing what can be created with paper! BLACK AND SILVER "HAPPY NEW YEARS" BANNER

A lot of the embellishments I picked up from the $1 Store. It's a great way to embellish and cost effective. I topped the top of these Birthday Bash Banners with silver garland that have wee stars all over it! I found "HAPPY NEW YEAR" necklaces for $1 and cut them up. Each banner has a word and 3 together say "HAPPY NEW YEAR". The stars attached at the bottom are from the same necklace.

I picked up these silver snowflakes, 6 for $1. A great embellishment!

I embossed the black shimmer paper with Tim Holtz clock embossing folder. I need this set! LOVE IT! I cut the letters from Sophisticated (my favorite font) in silver shimmer paper.

I made them into 3 small banners with the 2 snowflake banners on either end of "NEW". I made this banner with a little extra bling. To match the home it is going too. This is where I will be spending New Years with my family.

BLACK AND GOLD "2012" BANNER

My 2nd banner I wanted to do in golds. I also wanted it to simply say 2012. The numbers are cut from Sophisticated and popped up on dimensional.

I added a fluffy gold garland with stars for the top. Again embossing with the TH Clock embossing folder, I embossed this time gold shimmer paper. Then lightly distressed Walnut stain to add some depth. It really helped to make it look less washed out.

I cut and layered this chandelier from Sophisticated. Then I coated with Dazzling Diamonds and outlined with black glitter glue.

A little note on how I store my banners. I fold them on to themselves and then clip them off. This way they aren't floating around and run the risk of tearing. Not to mention any embellishments won't go missing.

After you display store them like this and bag them up. If anything does happen to fall off then the bag will keep it from getting lost.

Stocking Stuffer

Looking for a quick last minute stocking stuffer?

Instead of making snowman poop, reindeer poop or Grinch poop I just made this wrapper. My intent was to make snowman poop. But I just wasn't feeling it. So instead I just kept it simple. To make these mint wrappers simply measure the height and width and cut. Then score along the sides. In this case I used Tic Tacs. I'm HORRIBLE with numbers so I was a bit frustrated with the measurements. But I eventually got there.

This little Santa postage stamp is the cutest stamped on Kraft. I added a little twine to tie it all together. The paper I used is a Recollections Kraft Holiday pack.

I used the small rounded corners punch to round the corners.

These little Tic Tacs are all spruced up!

These would work with gum packs to or any mint treat. What a fun crafty way to add a little flare to your Christmas Stockings.

Wrapping Idea for Gift Cards

Wrapping Gift Cards can be a challenge!

I don't want to just throw the gift card in an envelope...that's boring. Here's a fun easy idea. Any tag cut will do with your Cricut. Many of the carts have a tag feature. For my tags I used my SU Sizzex Two Tags die. I stamped this Tim Holtz Tall Trees stamp and added a little silver glitter glue for snow. Then pop a little glue dot on the back of the card so it doesn't slide around.

I picked up a multi pack of iTunes gift cards and tied the tags together using some bakers twine.

Here is the 2nd tag cut from the tag die. It's a great tag to stamp "TO: & FROM" which I see I forgot on this one. Then I added a little silver glitter glue to the swirly bits.

I picked up these brown mini Kraft bags from a packaging store last month, 100 for $4! I am almost out. They hold gift cards perfectly and you can stuff a ton in these bags. I stamped again the Tall Trees stamp, attached the smaller tag with bakers twine and done! EASY wrap job.

Here are all the gift bags I made for all the teens in my family. My BIL &SIL are taking 4 of these home for Christmas. These are small and compact enough to pack!

I'm always looking for new and unique ways to wrap gift cards. I hope you try this if you are looking for an easy wrapping idea. These bags and tags take minutes to whip together.

Holiday Wine Bottle Tags

Every year I make a handful of goodies for my husband to take to work. One of the final things I get to make is wine bottle tags. Every year he gives his managers a bottle of wine and a gift card. With all the new goodies I learned while making the 12 Tags of Christmas. I have a bunch of cuts I had made while borrowing these dies. I had 15 tags to make so I made 3 styles of tags, 5 each.

Tag #1.

This is my take on Tag 12

This WISH tag is all in gold. I picked this big snowflakes up at the $1 Store. They were silver so I glittered them gold. I cut WISH at 3/4" using Sophisticated in gold then layered a shadow of black. I used the shadow cut for the gold, so I needed to repeat in black and offset the gold. To make it pop I added diamond glaze on the letters.

I made this little tissue flower using gold tissue...no stamping this time. I picked up gold tinsel garland for a $1 and stapled it to the bottom of the tag. It even has little gold starts. I hot glued this antiqued gold brad to the flower then glued again to the tag.

I cut my tags using the TH Big Tag Die. I picked up 100 Manila file folders for under $8...that's 4 tags per folder. I stamped the tag with my french script stamp. Then stamped white tissue with my music note background stamp. I modge podged the tag, then layered the tissue over the tag. Using my heat gun I dried the tag, then added Rock Candy to give the tag a vintage cracked look. Then I added distress ink Tea Dye to the edges.

TAG #3.

This tag is a take on Tag 4 and Tag 6.

This tag has a lot going on. I sprayed adhesive to my tag, layered tin foil then ran the tag through my Snow Flurries embossing folder. I painted with acrylic paint, dried with my heat gun then distressed with some sandpaper. Gently scuff the paint off the snowflakes to expose the snowflakes. NOEL is cut in silver shimmer paper at 3/4" using Sophisticated. I added diamond glaze to the letters for a pop.

This snowman die I borrowed and did a ton of cuts in white, Kraft and cereal boxes. The snowman is inked in distress inks, faded jeans and broken china on white. I ran picket fence stain over and finished with Rock Candy crackle. A silver jingle and silver pipe cleaner finishes off the snowman.

For $1 I picked up this silver tinsel garland and have used a ton of it over the past weeks. I stamped it onto the bottom of the tag, then layered some silver mesh ribbon with a silver snowflake brad in the bottom corner. It's very subtle.

Tag #3.

This tag is a take on Tag 9 and Tag 10 and a little of Tag 7.

I went a little simpler...ok not really. The tag was stamped in Versamark and clear embossed. I inked with fire brick, Forrest moss and peeled paint exposing my stamp and making it pop. Again, I borrowed Snow Tree die, inked it and layered twice with UTEE giving the tree a thick glassy look.

To fill the corner I used my new Festive Greenery die for some holy leaves. I borrowed the pine cone (I suck at making them) as my GF just got it. I really loves these little cones...if only I was better at making them! I cut a little sprig of greenery from my mini fake tree and wrapped some of these berries from garland I picked up for $1.

Had to make these little ornaments again. The paper I am using is from TH Seasonal pack. I guess I keep picking the more muted images as they don't pop too much!

For added embellishment I used my SU Antique Brads to hold the twine for the ornament. Then added this glass mini ornament to the ribbon.

I also needed to add a spot to hold a GC. But I didn't want to take away from the front of the tag. I cut my mini Kraft bags down to 3 3/4", then punching with my scallop punch a little peaker spot to see the VISA GC. To keep it simple I stamped in vintage photo this TH deer and clear embossed. Tieing it off with some twine. Then stamping my OH SCRAP stamp...hehe:)

Christmas Cards

My 2011 Christmas Cards

These are supposed to be my easy cards. Then I started adding stuff. The idea was supposed to be a simple layer of DP a stamp and the "25". But I ended up adding more. I wanted to stick with Kraft paper and that includes some Kraft Holiday pack by Recollections. I guess they are still pretty simple.

I made 25 each of greens and reds.

The "25" is cut using the Winter Woodland cart and layered. That's 100 numberes cut, layered and popped up on dimentionals.

This vintage Santa stamp is a Recollections set.

I also picked up a Tim Holtz stamp set and used the Stag and Merry Christmas, stamping right onto the Kraft paper.

I ended up adding ribbon, twine and these cute mutted coloured jingle bells. I also spritzed the Santa layer with gold and sealed using hairspray. I gives a pretty shimmer!

My cards are cut at 5x5 and I'm pretty happy how they turned out. I love the vintage stamps, Kraft papers and little elements.

I squeezed all 50 cards into this little tote!

I hope you had fun making your Christmas card. These took me about 8 hours to make all 50. But if you liked it you could make one in about 45 min.

KinderstampO's Christmas Hop

Welcome...need some DIY Handcrafted Ornament idea's? Well, I do have a few on my blog for you. OK get ready for LOTS of idea's on here. I have started with a Tim Holtz Tag and I am finishing a TH Tag. These I made last week for this hop. The rest I made 13 years ago for my Christmas Tree and they still go on my tree today.

You should be arriving from Celine's Blog. If you are just getting started then you'll want to start at KinderstampO's Blog. I will try to keep it low on the chat since there are a lot of photo's!

Here is my TH Tag. I particpated in the this years (my first) 12 Tags of Christmas. I made this tag #10 for my mom with phot's of her parents. My Grandafather passed away a year ago December 19th. This tag she will put on her tree as I have done on mine. To chech out this tag in more detail click HERE to see how I made it.

I added WISH using Scrable pieces, then used MS Glitter Glue as icicles.

Here I recreated ornaments using photo's of my Grandparents on their wedding day and my grandfather on his fish boat. Very cool to use old photo's!

OK here I have a selection of ornaments I made one year when my kids were teeny tiny! I used plywood and my jigsaw to cut all these wooden ornaments. I then painted them all and to this day they hang on my tree!

My tree is full of handcrafted ornaments I made and my kids. It is also full of ornaments that were gifts and now my new 12 Tags of Christmas.

Again using the Scrabble pieces and a gear embossed and distressed. The tag is stamped, embossed and distressed.

12 Tags of Christmas; #12

It's the final tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas. It was really inspiring to make these tags and honestly when I started I had no idea I would do all 12...until I got to tag 4. I really love as a crafter to layer with paper and goodies. So this tag was perfect for me.

Making these paper flowers was so fun as I have never made them before. My GF and I hit the $1 Store for TISSUE to re-create this tag. I stamped a music note stamp to silver tissue for this tag then added an antique brad. I attached tinsel and trimmed it then used my MS Holly punch on MS glitter paper for the layered border.

Not a big fan of the cherub that was used so I was on the hunt ($1 store) for somthis that would fit. For $1 I picked up 2 of these prancing deer. Now they were cold but a little spray adhesive and silver glitter and now I have a pretty deer. Some of the gold shows through and adds a pretty look to the deer.

"ALL IS CALM" I printed on my computer and cut out then popped up. I stamped the tag then used some white tissue, stamped this music stamp on it with Archival black then used modge posge to glue it on the tag. The script I stampd on the tag shows through.

I didn't have the die for the layer behing the deer. So using the lid off my Scrabble box we hand cut the image. I then painted some acrylic blueish paint I had left over from my kids Nutcracker project.

The light catches the glittler from the WISH, deer and ribbon I used. I once again used my $1 Store silver jingle earrings and attached it at the bottom of the tag. Couldn't miss adding that final jingle.

Tag 11 was STRESSFUL for me!

I'm usually pretty comfortable to make anything with what I have. I usually don't know what I'm making until I make it. I don't plan my projects...more have an idea and go with it. But this tag I really had nothing to get the technique Tim was using with the UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) and Melting Pot. I had never heard of the Melting Pot until the night before with Mario's BTS.

Here was my thought that night. I don't have the big holly die, no shrink paper, I don't have the UTEE and I don't have the pot. My GF has the UTEE and paper but no pot. Easy...I have a Fondue Pot that I can control the heat. I am not above using what I have. However...still no big die. I did just get the Festive Greenery Die so after a little brain storming here's how we got there! Don't panic...you can make it too without all this stuff.

There's my big red jingle...had to get it in there. This mini ornament is a $1 store purchase, 6 for $1. It's glass and such a great embellishment for this festive tag!

HOW WE DID IT; Here's how my GF and I made the holly look as close to glass as we could without all the stuff. As I mentioned, I just got the Festive Greenery die so we cut and used the small holly leaves. But until I got this I was hand cutting and you can too. We used white glossy paper. We then double embossed with the UTEE. Once it was thick and cool we added the alcohol ink. There, easy peasy without the melting pot. You can certainly use clear embossing powder and just layer a few times.

I made a couple of these as one went for my Mom's Tree. These stamps are my GF's Holiday SU stamps. I don't have many Christmas sets. Since Halloween is my fav time.

Since this Santa isn't as big as Tim's Santa I added a little tinsel, bling and greenery at the bottom.

Although this wasn't my favorite tag. I did really like the idea of the Melting Pot. I had a lot of fun making the Holly work...once I got over the stress of it. As a whole I also like how this tag breaks up how loaded some of the other tags are. It is a nice addition to my tree.

Tag 10 was a lot of fun! Although I was a little impatient and took pictures before my ornaments could dry! I really like this tag...so much I made 2! But if you want to see my second tag you'll have to check back on December 16-18 for Hop I am in. It should be AMAZING!

Had to sneak my Jingle in! If you have been following my version of the 12 Tags of Christmas then you know each tag has at least 1 jingle on it! I cut a stem from my mini $1 store tree then layered with tinsel, ribbon and the red jingle. All glued with hot glue.

For my version of BELIEVE I stamped and punched cork, then distressed with a little vintage photo. I added some gold glitter glue to make it look like icicles. My banner is hand cut TH music paper, then to get that tattered edges I punched the tips with my Martha Stewart drippy goo punch. I could have borrowed the banner from my GF but it's the weekend...family time!

For the facets I did see the ones Tim uses. However I picked up the pack of 48 of thin facets. I figured I could get a lot more use out of 48 than 12 of them.

It's the LAST day of the 12 Tags of Christmas!

But I am posting Tag 9. What to do when you don't have the die cut Tim uses...Cricut! Welcome to my version of Tim's Tag #9. I have really been enjoying stamping and creating the resist tag with embossing and inking. I think it's my favorite of all the techniques! Here's how I made Tag 9 without the candlelight fright die. I used my Cricut cart October 31st. I looked at Chic and Scary too but the Oct 31'st had a better cut.

I used 2 cuts from the October 31st cart. One was the candelabra cut at 5 1/2 inches and this awesome drippy candle cut at 3". Then mounted the candle on the cut candelabra. I also ran file folder through my Cricut and did the same cuts so I could mount my paper onto it for a thicker candle.

I had a sheet of this wax butcher type paper left over so I hand cut some holy leaves, punched some green snowflakes to make some leafy greens. Hehe...now I have Festive Greenery! I added this little silver jingle earring I got from the $1 store and attached it.

For the tag I used Fire Brick and Forest Moss distressing Inks. Then went over with some Walnut for a deeper look.

I used my Flourish Die I just got and since I don't have the font die I cut at 3/4" PEACE from Sophisticated.

12 Tags of Christmas, #8

I had no idea when I saw the first tag I would end up making them all. I'm posting my tag late due to some commitments on my blog, however I am running on time for getting them finished. I really love Tag #8. I love seeing all the layers and Steampunks. I did try combining the Steampunk elements with a Christmas feel. I do love to layer, layer, layer!

I had some vintage tags on hand and stamped a little Christmas stamp on it with some distressing it. I had access to the gold dauber but not the copper and silver. So, I embossed! Hey...it still works! I sanded the gears then added distressing stain to give it a worn look. I just picked up these cute brads to connect the hands and adhere it to the washer I used. It's all layered in there.

A little piece of tinsel is tied to a silver jingle attached to a wee light. This little white embellishment I have had for years. I sanded it down to help the ink to set then heat set it. This little stamp fits perfect!

I stamped this TH Santa on chipboard (ok cereal box) then popped in some distrssing inks to make Santa pop. I used Snow Cap for the white of Santa's beard applying it with my finger tip. I really like him like this.

Santa pops with Stickled holly and berries. The "Joy" I stamped and punched. It's all glazed with Diamond Glaze. The clock grungeboard I inked with Pumise Stone then added a little Silver acylic paint. It gives it a pretty shimmer from under all these layers.

I made 2 tags and this is my other one. The only difference is I added this cute little bottle full if silver beads. A pretty embellishment for this holiday tag!

Tags #9 and 10 are done. My tag 10 made my Mom Cry when I showed her. Ahhhh:) I'm am totally sad that tomorrow is the last day to make a tag!

12 Tags of Christmas, #7

I'm working on Tag 10 today but for now here's tag 7. I'm having so much fun learning all these new techniques. For tag 7, I love the brown tones and weathered look. I love how the brown makes the red and green pop.

I used Sanded Background stamp to weather the tag. It' one of my favorite stamps! The sentiment is all pretty and flourished. I used a few of dangles wrapped on the ribbon including this light bulb stained with red.

I don't have glassine paper to create these holy leaves. But I do have a waxy kraft paper. After some trial and error, sanding the paper allowed the ink to adhere. I cut my own holy an branches since I don't have the die. I used red jingles for berries and layered them over lace.

I also don't have the distress stains for to swirl the tag in. I stamped my Kraft mat with the pumice stone and vintage photo. Then squirted the tag with water and swirled through the ink. Repeat this until you get the desired colour you want.

I am half way through the 12 Tags of Christmas...tag #6! Hands up if you took one look at Tim's tag and thought...huh? I know I did. I wasn't caring for it at all. But I have comitted to the 12 tags and adding jingles to them all! I spent at least 30 min painting this tag and was thinking...this is going to be a hot mess. But stick with it...it will be worth it, I promise!

I LOVE HOW THIS TAG TURNED OUT! It really is for effort, vintage feel and simplicity my faqvorite tag as we get half way through. My goal here is to use as much as I have and borrow what I can. I did buy some stuff to help me complete this tag. I needed acrylic paint for my kids Nutcracker's they paint every year. So I used it on this tag. Hey, I needed it anyway!

For the wreath I went to the $1 Store and bought for $2 a mini Christmas Tree. These are really cheap, a fraction of the cost then to buy mini wreath's already premade. Simply cut one steam off the tree and form it to a wreath. The branches are already wired so it makes it easy. They are really fluffy so I trimmed it to make it smaller. I hot glued the mini gold jingles around the wreath and left them gold so they pop.

Painting does take awhile so make sure to give yourself time. Especially for such an involved folder like this one.

Of course I don't have metal sheets. But I do have tin foil. Adhere the tin foil using spray adhesive to the glossy paper (I used photo paper) and I suggest wrapping the edges a bit as this will help with ripping when you go to distress the paint. When I went to emboss with the clear that's when I fell in love with this look!

Scrappy Moms Stamps New Release!

Scrappy Moms Stamps is having a double release. I am using the new Dancing Circles set as the Hooray hasn't reached me yet. Darn snow. If you have been checking my blog you know I am participating the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas. This tag is a mix of my Tag #4 and Tag #6... which I will be posting tomorrow. Check back tomorrow.

I picked up tinsel garland and have been cutting and clipping to use it to accent my hat. I hot clued these beads and trimmed felt for the hat. Adding some glitter glue for snow. The key with heart is attached with a little piece of pipe cleaner, perfect for a scarf.

I tied this key charm with a little silver jingle.

I used "Thinking of you" Dancing Circle stamp then attached this snowflake brad.

I used tin foil for the tag then embossed with the snowflake folder. I painted with acyclic paint scuffing with sand paper to expose the silver tin foil. Once done I clear embossed to seal the paint and give the tag an enamel look. Can I just say I adore this technique.

12 Tags of Christmas; #5

Back on track with my tags and I have caught right back up. So I will be posting the tags I have caught up on. Today is tag #5 and this one is a cool technique!

Lucky for my my girl had the stamp and my other GF had the inks to make this one red. I only have 5 alcohol inks and 2 of them are the silver and gold. Here's what I have learned. I also did an 2nd tag with the silver and gold and it is to thick to rub off to expose the stamp. All it did was move it around. Not that you can't do it. The stamp just shows through very light.

I was all done making the tag when I found a set of these wreaths at Walmart. They are metal ornaments meant to decortate wee trees. I sanded it down a bit to take out some if the shiny. The accents on this one were gold so I stickled over with red.

For that main wreath I was going to use my snowflake punch or a Cricut cut to create the wreath. But I couldn't get out of my mind to use one of my chipboard gears. I started by distressing with inks and quickly decided to use my green embossing powder to make it look brighter. I picked up these holiday earings (with jingles) form the $1 Store and glued it down, then tied and inked the red bow.

Be sure when rubbing the ink from the stamped tag to push with your finger tip. Try to avoid rubbing as you will smudge your stamps letters. If you look at the top of my tag you will see where I figured that out. By the time I got to the end of the tag I got it right.

I wasn't to sure how I would like this tag. But it really turned out pretty and it was a fun technique to learn! I will for sure be trying this one again.

I everyone and welcome to the Christmas season. It is almost everyone's favorite time of year. I am so blessed today to be a guest blogger/designer on Nicole's blog our Canadian Nickel. I have never meet through the blogging community someone so talented. Thanks so much for letting be be a part of your world.

you know, I love to decorate my home for the seasons. I recently

purchases the sweet treat boxes cricut cartridge and I wanted to show

you what I did with them.

I cut these little babies out as big as I could and decorated them as if they were a little village using inks to distress, bling and glitter.

All you have to do is cut the handles off and put a strip of paper along the seem like I did and no one would ever know.

The Icicles are from the holiday cakes cartridge. I added some super glittery glitter for the snow which I cut out by hand.. Glue everything down and voila a cut addition to a Christmas village.

I hope you can find some great inspiration from these pictures. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year everyone.

QUICK POST...I have to work on tags 5 and 6!

Here's my version of Tim's Tag #4. I borrowed the snowman die, however any snowman cut from any Cricut cart will do. I don't have the "25" movers and shakers die so I cut at 2" this 25 from Sophisticated cart. I should have cut them at 1 3/4" but that's OK.

I used some natural white ribbon then frayed the edges. I used some small beads from my daughters bead kit for the snowman's hat.

I used some silver ribbon for the top I picked up from the $1 store, then added some pipe cleaner wrapped around a pen to make it curly.

The 25 is covered with my Diamond Glaze and I added MS white glitter glue on the snow flake die.

OK there's tag #4...not too bad. Remember, it's all about the techniques more than about having the right supplies. Thank you SOOOO much for following my 12 Tags of Christmas and how I craft them. Time to play so Tag catch up! Vancouver was great and it was sooooo nice to see my parents. Living so far away from family can be hard. They spoiled my husband and I with great cooking! And the Christmas party we went there to attend was fabulous!

But now that I am home with my amazing kids I can get back to Tim's tags. Well...trying too. I have my 2 oldest home today really sick!!!! One is sleeping and the other cannot due to her super stuffy nose. But she is watching movies in bed. So I popped into my room to work on tag #3.

PLEASE I own hardly any TH stuff. I have 1 seasonal Christmas pack (I want the Karft Christmas pack), 2 stamp sets and 3 die cuts. None of them are holiday. I have about 8 distressing inks, 3 stains and 5 alcohol inks. That is not a lot! But my goal is to make the tags with what I have and borrow what I can. You don't have to own all Tim's stuff to get the same effect.

I don't have the stamp that was used on TH tag. However I do have the TH Seasonal pack and used the paper that looks similar to the stamp. Hey it can be done;) I also don't have the Festive die cut but I do have a good pair of scissors and a snowflake punch. I hand cut the holly leaves and used my snowflake punch as pine foliage. Genius!

I loved learning that the twine will curl when heated with your heat gun! I'm seeing curled twine in my future projects!

How cute is this "JOY"! I made this last week with some Scrabble pieces and a wood ruler I cut up. I then distressed them with my alcohol inks and distressing stains. Turned out so pretty. I adhered it to the tag with my hot glue gun. Never thought to use it before now. It's my new FAV tool!

For the Holly Berries I had a $1 Store necklace, wee Christmas lights. I used them and glued them down with the hot glue!

I spritzed my tag with my Perfect Pearls then set it with hairspray. I do not own a Holiday embossing folder...SHOCKING. But I do have this pretty SU one. I ran it through, then applied the gold alcohol in lightly on top to add to the shimmer.

Christmas Tag

Noooo...it's not 12 Tags of Christmas, #3 Tag:(

However, I am having so much fun following and creating the tags I thought I would wing it. And give you at least a tag to check out while I'm away. I wanted to play with some of the new stuff I've been learning. So I decided to make my Mom a Christmas Tag to go on the little bag I made for her. I'll show you those later.

It's kind of a few things I've seen thrown together onto a tag. I embossed the tree with some yummy green embossing powder. Then sis a 2nd tree in detail silver, embossing it in 3 layers of silver to give it a THICK snowy look. I don't have the snow product so the next best thing is to embossing. Then I trimmed the snowy bows.

I wrapped the trunk with hemp twine then added this red jingle. I punched my snowflake with green card stock for a leafy effect and added some wee red buttons as berries. For something a little different.

I used the Merry Christmas ticket inked with red and green.

Lookie how pretty this tree turned out.

I'm hoping on Monday I can play some catch up and work on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

WOW #2 tag is already done! Truth be told I have a lot to do today before I fly to Vancouver tomorrow. Including going shopping for clothes...UGH!

Being I am a newbie to all the Tim Holtz supplies, techniques and these 12 Tags of Christmas I really do have to work with what I have. So I am literally taking the inspiration I see on his tags and working with what's in my craft room. My 2 girlfriends took his 12 tags of Christmas classes and made all 12 tags. That was the first time I had heard about TH. Here's where I'm fortunate. I am just starting to collect the TH stamps, paper and dies. But between my 2 friends they own most of it. We got together a few weeks ago with all their dies and I cut a TON of the dies with Kraft. So lookie I had the deer on hand:)

I do happen to have canvas as Tim used on his tag. As I was looking for the canvas I came across my cork I bought last month. OH YA...DONE! I also don't have the Kraft Christmas pack as he used. I have been wanting it and may still grab it. But I'm impatient and really wanted to create this tag this morning...6:30am! So I used some of my Kraft paper and made something similar. Hey, never hurts to try! So I stamped and embossed to get the same effect. How fun.

You can work with what you have!

I just got these clips a few weeks ago. and what a great spot to use it. I then added another jingle. Seriously, I'm thinking I may try to incorporate jingles in all of the tags I make? The burlap I have from the rice I buy. I get this rice just so I can have the burlap. For the ribbon I used cheesecloth I dyed with chi tea. Smells yummy and you get 4ft of cheesecloth for $2. Now that's CHEAP-OLA!

As for the wreath I did think about popping into the $1 Store for green pipe cleaner. But I have this lovely tinsel red one. So I wrapped heavy Hemp Twine with it and then tied off a star charm. As I mentioned earlier, I had this deer cut already in Kraft. The cork I have has adhesive so I simply mounted the cork to the Kraft deer and trimmed the excess.

Like I said I'm just starting to collect all the TH goodies and the Distress hammer is one I jut picked up. PANIC...they are now discontinued so I'm happy I have it. GUESS WHAT I LEARNED...your punches can punch cork! I used my MS Holy punch again on the cork and it was easy peasy. Then I used my gold alcohol ink to go over the punched brads and cork for a pretty shimmer.

Not having the Kraft Seasonal Resit pack I was forced to try my own. I stamped my Kraft paper with my Music Sheet background stamp, then stamped TH greenery stamp for one of the Holiday collections...THEN...I stamped the TH Christmas Ticket stamp with Versa Mark then clear embossed. Once all that was dry I was able to add the Picket Fence stain! Which I just won and it just arrived.

Due to the early morning light my tag looks a little blueish. It is really white looking. I'm super sad I won't be able to make the tags for the next few days. But I am planning on catching up when I return.

If you don't have the stuff you see on TH Tags, don't panic. Use that to look at what you do have and just make it work. If you have a Cricut find a similar cut to the deer. You can make your own resist paper and use the embellishments you do have.

12 Tags of Christmas; #1

I'm brand new to the concept of Tim Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas. And I thought it would be fun to make them. I flying off to Vancouver this weekend so I won't be working on Day 3 and 4. But I will make make some when I get home.

OK so the idea is to use what you have and get inspired. That's pretty much how I craft so this works for me. I did get together with my 2 VERY talented GF's and we pooled our resources. YES, one of my friends JUST picked up the pinecone die cut! LUCKY!!!!

I don't have a die that cuts a sentiment. So we cut "SNOWY" at 2" from Winter Woodland cart and glittered! I added thick Hemp Twine at the top and added a jingle bell attached with a paper clip. Cool...

Here's my full tag inspired by Tim's. It's not about having all the stuff he used. However, it is about using what you have and trying his techniques. And that I did!

For the bottom I hand cut holy leaves and hot glued red jingles for berries. What a POP!

So this is my take on Tim's Tag, #1 of the 12 Tags of Christmas. How'd I do? It's my first official Tim Tag!

Christmas Bags

Finally a snowy cold morning here! Perfect time to show you the Christmas bags I was working on. In total I made 10 of these and started them back in October. Well started planning and purchasing. I added a lot of photo's for these since there is so much detail.

Every year for my husband's company Christmas Party I make a little something for a staff giveaway. This year I decided on Kraft Bags. I went to a local packaging store to get some goodies and inspiration. There are 5 bags shown here but in total I made 10. These Kraft bags were a great price at $1.89 per.

I picked up the ribbon and bells from Michaels and this mesh ribbon from the $1 Store. It has gold in it to, so very festive!

I ended up last minute adding some tags. For these I stamped a French Script on the background then stamped these Tim Holtz Holiday stamps in clear, then clear embossed. Once that was done I distressed with some TH Distressing inks.

The designer paper is new this year from Stampin Up. The stamp is a Vintage Holiday Post Card which I embossed in black. I then coloured the key with my markers, re-stamped and cut them out. Then popped them up for dimension. Notice the Antique Brads, also SU.

Inside the bag is another bag holding the Gift Cards. I picked up these little Kraft bags from the same packaging store, $3.99 for 100! I stamped these TH trees then added some Martha Stewart white glitter glue for snow. The tag is the Buck again stamped and punched as a tag to tie in the two bags.

I stamped the tree again on each Two Tags Die Cut Tag. Then tied off a button with Twine.

In each bag there are 5 tags tied together with a Gift Card on each. The front tag has my husband's Business card (not shown) representing a day off to the lucky employee.

Here is the full set of 5 laid out for you. These bags took me a total of 3 hours per bag to complete.

Each bag is worth about $200 as a gift. Due to the fact of the day off.

I'm so proud of these little bags and I was proud to stamp my Oh Scrap on each of them.

Embossing Cookies

Embossed Cookies...for real!!!!

Now I realize to some of you use your embossing folders to emboss your shaped cookies may be sooo last year. But I JUST saw this and was like...O.M.G.EEEEE! Now why didn't I think of that. I feel awful, I can't link the blog I found it on. I was scrolling Pinterest when I saw the picture and I guess I didn't pin it. Really sorry, I think it's SOOO important to link the blogs we find stuff on.

My apologizes on the photo's, it's overcast here this morning. And despite the whole rear of my house being glass the pictures still turned out dark:(

I'm still Holiday Baking (7 batches of Biscotti yesterday) and these are my Moms Shortbread. Sorry, not allowed to share the recipe. However, I changed it up and used this new little cutter I picked up. This recipe yielded 70 cookies. Make sure you wash your folder in hot water and soap first!

LOL...This is NOT one of those fancy Gourmet Blogs. It's a craft blog so my counter is a direct reflection of my craft desk...messy but produces greatness! *SNICKER*

I positioned the pattern on the folder to center on the cookie then pressed firmly.

Mini Album Week 2

It's week 2 Mini Album

...and I didn't get as far as I would have liked on my Mini Album. I had some other crafty commitments to get done. But those are out of the way and I can get decorating. That's the fun part!

I did get to cut all my designer paper. This took some time especially since I had 52 cuts...well 54 including the cover and back.

As you are cutting be sure to trim all your extra pieces. Here I have a file folder to keep them all together for this project. These will come in handy when you get to layering your pages.

I used an old coffee tin for the scraps. It gives you an idea of how little waste there was once I trimmed and saved the big pieces!

I taped the top and bottom of each piece. One, this saves on tape (I went through a full roll) and two it allows me to tug tabs or ribbon through the openings if I want. I can always add glue if I want to seal the paper to the file folder page.

Keep your pages organized!

Welcome to Oh Scrap!

I have officially launched my new website Oh Scrap Custom Cards.

I have been crafting with paper now for over 15 years. During that time I have learned a lot! In the almost 2 years since starting Canadian Nickel Scrap'n I have learned way more than I could have ever expected! I have met some amazing crafters and connected with some awesome craft company's. I have had the honor of crafting with some pretty talented crafters through my past and current Design Teams. It's on these Teams I have learned to challenge myself and have learned so many new things.

I will be offering everything from cards with Cricut cuts, stamping, customized cards, distressed stuff, tags to party packages. Everything is hand crafted by me and we will work together to get you exactly what you want. Keeping in mind there are no big fancy cutting machines that make the perfect cut. Just me and my crafty hands making it perfectly unperfect.

Dandylicious is celebrating her Blogiversary with a Birthday themed Blog Hop

Are you just arriving to my blog for the first time? If so this is a blog hop and I don't want you to miss a thing! So head to the start by going to Dandy's blog first. If you've already been hoping then you should be arriving from Becky's blog and her awesome creative project!

My Birthday card is full of goodies. This card was commissioned by a friend for his wife's birthday next week. I was allowed to do whatever I wanted so I had some fun! This card is LOADED with goodies! I even tried some cork which by the way is my new favorite thing. This card is a 5x5 Easel card. I like Easel cards because they display nice and can hold the weight of embellishments and layers.

I used a couple Tim Holtz die cuts including the dress form one and the bird cage cut.

I stamped this ruler on both Kraft paper and Cork. Cork is stunning when stamped!

What a unique way by adding the age using playing cards. I inked with alcohol inks. Next time I'll try sanding with sand paper to take off some of the gloss!

I wrapped twine around the spool and tied off a metal key. I then ran a pin through tied with some black tulle. This cut sentiment is from Stampin Up.

The card extended.

Part of creating a distressed card is a lot of layering and adding metals, twine and things like cork.

I added black tulle behind the bird cage that acts like a skirt on the dress form. Then attached some mini safty pins to dangle at the bottom. I distressed the cork dress form even further with ink and tearing pieces off. I also stamped a TH ticket of the cork for the main sentiment "A dream is a Wish your Heart makes".

The card standing. Perfect for displaying and holding the weight of everything I loaded it with.

Gift Set and another Auction

My GF recently asked if I would want to make something for her son's Hockey Team to Auction off to raise money. Of course! So I decided on a Christmas card and tag set. There are 6 cards and 6 tags for the whole set.

I stamped and clear embossed the Christmas Carol background and did the same for the Scrappy Moms Stamps sentiment. I added some Hemp twine and broke into my button stash! YUMMY!

These little snowmen are cut from Winter Wonderland. I adore them! I repeated the music stamp to tie in the tags and the cards. These little guys can also be used as tree ornaments.

I made 10 in total.

Mini Album Week 1- TUTORIAL

Top Secret Christmas Present

Have you ever wanted to make a fabulous Mini Album but never knew how? Well that's how I feel and I have no clue how? Does that make me any less qualified...pfft NO! I'm winging it! I asked in my totally informal FACEBOOK poll if you wanted to see the final project...or a weekly post! Everyone that answered went for weekly. This way if you want to build along with me you can! In no time we'll figure it out...right? This book is for my husband and he's excited that I'm super excited!

Lets start, shall we...

Now I could go to the Scrapbook store and buy an expensive Chipboard book. BORING...If you buy paper packs they come with a thicker card stock. I happen to have some Stampin Up scrapbook kits that come with THICK chipboard. Then it got me thinking, I also have file folders. We'll get there in a bit...

Here's how I started... grab your

George and Basic Shapes Cricut cartridge.
(or any shaped cut)

STEP 1.
Cover and Backing

Use cheap (I used Walmart card stock) 12x12 card stock to get the size you have in mind for pages. Save your good card stock for your mini album. You can keep it all one size or mix it up. I cut the front and back covers with this thicker chipboard. Firstly, I don't have a lot of it and second I want a sturdy cover, but not super thick pages. I cut my cheap card stock at 8". I then traced the "U" shape onto my chipboard, cutting it out with good scissors!

STEP 2.

Pages, shapes and sizing

Decide on your page shape(s) and sizing. I chose to do 5 assorted page shapes and different page sizes. To keep yourself organzied write on each page shape, the letter used (G&B has letters with the shapes), write the size you cut and how many cuts. This may seem pointless but you will need to know this as you move along. I have 52 pages I need. So, I broke the cuts down into 5 page shapes, 2 page shapes @ 15 pages (making 30) 2 for the cover and back (making 32), 1 page shape @10 cuts (making 42) and 2 page shapes @5 each adding up to 52. DO NOT PANIC. Simply decide on how many pages you want and break it down. Especially if you want different shapes.

STEP 3.

File folders as pages

OK, now that you have the amount of pages decided and the shapes you are using we are ready to cut them. For this I wanted something thicker than card stock but not so thick as I have a lot of pages. So I am hoping this works. For this I went into my storage room and found a box of hanging files. Now, I may get in trouble when it's discovered I hacked up perfectly good files. But c'mon...I'm a scrabooker so I look at what I have before I buy! These files fit in your cutter, so just trim the top. Then cut along the the center crease where the file folds. Flip once more and cut off the other hanging end. Each file folder will yield 2 cut pages. Perfect thickness to layer your designer paper later on.

STEP 4.

Keep track of your cuts

I am using 5 different shapes for my pages. I already have my shapes sized and shaped from step 2. Using the quantity button figure out how many cuts your file folder pages will cut. In my case 4 out of the 5 pages could only take 2 cuts, and one could take 3 cuts. Confused? I am...but trust me, knowing how many cuts you can get out of each folder will save you time. Once you know how many cuts write it down on your card stock cut. Use each page cut like a note pad...you will be happy you did later! This way you will know how many folders you need to cut. Then you aren't cutting like crazy or cutting too few.

(TIP; I cut a couple extra pages as back ups. If you don't need them you can save them for another smaller amount of pages album)

STEP 5.

Trim the exess

I wouldn't be a crafter if I didn't save and trim the cut files. This is some pretty good thick stuff!!! Trim off and hold onto all the extra. We will (may) need this as we get further into the album. Do I know this for sure...NO? But these smaller pieces may be used for shapes, letters, tags to help embellish our album.

STEP 6.

Quantity Button is your Friend

As you are trimming file folders you can select your quantity, in this cas I have Qty:2 at 4 1/2". Ummm ya that was it for Step 6!

STEP 7.

Clips work

As you complete each set of pages, clip them off. This way you can work on each set of pages. This is where taking the notes come in handy. It's a lot to remember especially at 52 pages like I am doing. You'll want to know this for when you start cutting your pricy Designer Paper.

For each page I wrote;

the size

cartridge used

the letter I cut with

the size I cut at

how many pages I cut

and how many cuts I got out of each file folder.

If you are going to cut with 12x12 designer paper then it's easier and choose the Auto Fill button. Or use up those scraps!

STEP 8.

Bring on the Paper

For my Mini Album I have selected 2 paper packs purchased at 40% off. I am using Recollections Union Square pack. I have been eyeing this paper pack for months waiting for the right project to come along. Then I picked up Tim Holtz Crowded Attic paper. I wanted to break up the papers even though I LOVE them both. I cut this 12x12 Union Square page for the front cover...so I could get the "LOVE" on the front.

OK there you have it. The start of my VERY first tutorial! I am really excited to make this Mini Album and to share it with you. If anyone is going to follow along and build with me maybe I'll add your progress too? Any suggestions are welcome, just leave me a comment!

Scrappy Moms Freshly Brewed Release

Freshly Brewed is being released today from Scrappy Moms Stamps. Yes, I love coffee so yes this set is a good fit! I just got this stamp set and in my panic (thinking the set was releasing on Tuesday) I rushed to make this 3D project. Ummm...I got my release dates and challenges smashed together with the wrong dates. So you get the release on time but the 3D SMS Challenge project a few days late. Sorry...

Look at this cute Gift Bag!!!! This is a 12x12 folding gift bag. I found this while spending countless hours pinning on Pinterest. I know, it's a lot of time spent but I must say I am making stuff I find on there. Including this. I will provide a link to the folds at the bottom of the post.

The post card stamp is a TH stamp, distressed and crumpled.

The SMS Challenge is to use button or twine, here's my button and hemp twine. I picked up the vintage bike stamp at Michaels from the $1.50 bin.

I distressed this small tag, then repeated the "Espressly for You!" sentiment then again on a piece of Kraft paper. The wire meash is attached with my TH Tiny Attacher.

When you open the bag it has a little pouch to hold some baking. Perfect for a Coffee Get Together!

Graphicat November Sketch and it's a good one!

Miss Heidi is NAUGHTY... so she's a perfect fit with this Graphicat Designs sentiment. There's a little naughty in all of us! Every time I post Heidi people want her. But I think the company is not there anymore or making a website transition? I used the Tim Holtz die cut Flourishes for the swirly part. I went with blues and greens but reds would have been nice too. Just feelin blue;)

I coloured this sentiment then added Marta Stewart white glitter glue.

I used my new Spellbinders on the digi and why did I wait so long to get them! Perfect to colour and place my cut.

Apple Butter Recipe

A Recipe and Craft Project!

I have 2 passions, cooking and crafting. Sometimes they even come together! If you're on FACEBOOK with me then you know what I've been up to for the past couple of days. Where did this come from? My new obsession, Pinterest! If you've been wanting to make Apple butter then break out your crock pot!

I tripled the recipe since I hade a Costco bag of Fuji's. This yeilded 7 cups (or 7 jars) of Apple Butter.

I have a big family so 3 jars wasn't going to cut it.

I decided to can my Apple Butter so I could store it. Submerge your jars and boil for 15 min. Cool them on a rack and wait for the "POP" That's my favorite part!

My batch yielded 7 250ml jars. I gave 3 jars to my friends and neighbors.

I was so excited to use my Preserves cartridge. The recipe cards are cut at 5", the font is 1" and the apple cuts are 2" with layers. Then add your recipe.

I used the Lid Feature too and cut at 2". And added a little button up there. They turned out so cute!

Apple Butter Recipe

2.5 lbs (6 large) apples, peeled, cored, finely chopped (I used honeycrisp and gala)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp allspice
1/8 tsp nutmeg

Place the apples in a slow cooker. Top with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg and mix well.

Cover and cook on low 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown.

Uncover and puree with an immersion blender. Cook on high uncovered 1-2 hours

Spoon into sterile jars, or containers and refrigerate.

This is a really easy recipe I promise! I have never had Apple Butter and I was so excited I made Sourdough Bread (and english muffins). I used my sourdough starter and used the recipe from my William and Sonoma Cook Book. Click HERE to see the recipe. This was my first time making bread without a bread machine! I was stressed but the bread is WAY better! It turned out more like an Artisan bread.

I played and won over at Scrapbooker's Paradise!

What a fun little challenge blog. For playing along, I was asked to guest along with their DT on this weeks Challenge...EASEL CARD! LOVING!!!!

I made this card for my GF as she is marking a difficult milestone. I wanted to let her know I'm thinking about her. I picked up the yummy vintage postcard paper from Scrapbooker's Paradise and the Tim Holtz Clock die cut. Ya I shop there. Then added some more Tim Holtz die cuts. I know shocked right. What can I say, I love being covered in ink!

Yep, it's an Easel card, 5x5

I whipped up the tag, added a flourish cut, clip and clock. The sentiment is SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes.

There's that screen mesh again on the tag.

The gears are chipboard then distressed. I added Rock Candy to the small gear.

Don't throw out the incomplete cuts, they work awesome to add to the aged look!

Here's the card opened up, on the inside I added {friend to friend} stamp.

First off I would just like to say…THANK YOU Nicole for sharing your spot in blogland with me. You are the most giving girl I’ve met in this world of blogging. So that being said here is a little about me…

I am.... www.justwordz.ca or to my family I answer too...kimberly, kim, kimbob, kimmer, kimmy....wow I get called many names eh??? Canadian, yes, live in the North yes, but not in an igloo. ha ha

I'm a full time employee of Atlas Copco making diamond drill bits and when I get home I’m either crafting or checking out the 600 plus blogs I follow, crazy I know, but I love it. I've just joined this fabulous world of blogging this past December, and boy have I learned a lot and still have much to learn. It's great getting inspiration from all of you....so many thanks all. I've been crafting for as long as I can remember, and have been into so many things but I just love card making.

My quest for everyday stamps that are not puny sayings was hard to find, so any great crafter will tell you, if you can't find it, make your own. So that's exactly what I did.

Halloween Decor- Pennies a project

SIX PROJECTS ON A DIME!

Are you looking for some Halloween Decor ideas? I have a few for you. These are projects I have been working on for the past couple of weeks.

BANNERS

I made Boo and Beware for my 2 corner windows. These are cut from Birthday Bash, using Recollections Halloween paper and Stampin Up Halloween Paper.

I made this Tim Holtz Banner, "Trick or Treat". Hangs over my spooky dining room. Black sheets are there for the holidays.

Cut from Birthday Bash and the frames/ font are a Sophisticated cut. I added beads from Walmart and skulls are a $1 store necklace cut up.

This BIG Banner is "Happy Halloween"

The charms are Walmart and the tulle is from an old Halloween costume. This glitter spiders are a $1 store find.

Candles

Cheap-o-la...You can make this on a budget...promise! I picked these candelabras up from Michaels for $12 at 50% off. I bought them on a day they there was an additional 25% off so in the end they were less than $10. I then used my 40% coupon for the Recollections glitter and Modge Podged these Walmart white candles.

I glittered the little spider too.

I glue dotted these $1 store plastic spiders. For both candelabras I paid less than $30. And they are metal!

OK SUPER CHEAP! My SIL had these Halloween Candles and asked if I wanted to use them, DUH...YA! I didn't have any candle sick holders. So off to the $1 store at a $1 a piece I got these glass holders. I added some Halloween ribbon I had and glitter spiders!

I always have LOTS of spiders and Halloween ribbon. So these cost me $3 for all 3.

These glitter spiders are 6 for $1.

Altered Jars

Not that I'm addicted to Pinterest or anything ~~BULLSHIT~~. But I did see something similar to this. So I grabbed these assorted jars, again $1 store for $1 each. Cheap right. Then pinning on Pinterest I came across printable free Halloween Paper. Because I don't have enough! I like these for jars though since they are LABELS!

I distressed with my TH inks.

Print these for FREE! Trim, distress and glue!

I use Modge Podge glue.

Glue them on then brush the glue on the front, it dries clear!

Spook out your home! I have 2 on these shelves!

And 2 on these!

I have battery operated tea lights from Costco and they will flicker safely on the night of my party.

These were less than $2 each to make and minutes to create!

Spruced Up Witches Broom

Now, these brooms I have had for a few years. They are my fav out of all my witch's brooms. I had some big Halloween ribbon from last year kicking around. I just tied a big bow on each and done!

Easy and at night with the purple lights they look awesome!

Spruce Up your Skeleton!

This poor guy needed a home. I picked him up last week without any clue where to put him. As a joke I popped him into my tree pot and now I love him there. But there was something missing...

I had a little left over ribbon from my witches brooms. So he got a Halloween Bow Tie!

If you already have this stuff then these things to add are free!

Spooked Out Toilet

Just added this one. I used scrap peices of black paper, cut on an angle, cut some fingers (but oval punch works to) and punched out the eyes. I taped it on my toilet and I'm ready to haunt!

I hope you found some inspiration to haunt your house. I am always looking for inexpensive ways to do anything crafty! This does a couple of things. One... crafting can be pricey and two...what a fun challenge to keep it cheap! If you look around you will be inspired to try new things to add to your next project!

Halloween Invitations- Easy

Now that all my Halloween Invitations have been delivered I can post. Not that many people know I blog....

I got all my paper and stamps a little later than normal. So I needed a quick project. The stamps are new from Stampin Up and these little baggies you can pick up there too. I picked up the Halloween Candy at the Bulk Barn as there were a ton of Halloween candy choices.

I loaded all the candy one at a time. It's time consuming but worth it. I distressed and rolled a scroll with all the Ghoulish Party info.

I cut the squares on my Cricut. Then punched my stamps out after stamping and clear embossing. The metal charm is from Walmart tied with Hemp. The stamples are attached with my Tiny Attacher.

This ticket is a Tim Holtz die cut and then stamped.

These little baggies are awesome and will be great for Christmas too! A little different take on a Halloween Invitation but totally fun! My house is spookified, the banners are hung, the spiders are crawling and the bodies are moaning!

This weeks Guest Designer is Betty with The Scrappy Witch

First, off I want to thank Nicole for having me... she and I go way back, and the love of Halloween is something I think will bond us forever and ever!

As many of you know, I am the owner of Simply Betty Stamps. I am a crafter by heart. Have always been, I think I started the scrapbook trend! HA HA HA!

I remember having a polaroid camera, taking pictures of my friends constantly and making my own scrapbooks with my doodles, and stickers I found here and there. Again, all this before the Scrapbooking industry hit! I fell in love with rubber stamping in High School. I remember walking in to my first stamp store called Stamp, Stamp, Stamp. I looked at a few stamps and thought, "Oh my gosh, these are expensive I will never have a collection!" Well, here we are 4355 wooden stamps (that's after two months of purging), 285 clear stamp sets, and well not to mention my own lines, later!

Nothing is more soothing to me than sitting, stamping and coloring! Crafting in general really!

Distressed Halloween Tag

Look out I am distressing again!

I can't help it...it's my new passion and I think it's here to stay! My darling husband and I were invited to our good friends home for some pool and darts Saturday. We all made some yummy appy's, my husband made salmon skewers and I made pumpkin cheesecake. I made a Thank You tag to go with the appy's we brought. Not to mention some of the techniques I learned from crafty BFF!

I distressed the medium sized tag with my inks then stamped the Trick or Treat and Skeleton, both from SU. After that was dry I ran it though my Tim Holtz Halloween embossing folder. Then I spritzed gold all over the tag. I only have the Perfect Pearls (without the fixative) that will smudge off if you don't set it. So, if you have these use hairspray to set the shimmer. Then it won't come off.

You can see the embossing here over the skeleton. And I banged out the metal brads with my new hammer!

I tied with MS ribbon and distressed a bat charm with my Ranger Alcohol Inks.

I punched my MS Bat Fence punch then attached with my Tiny Attacher.

I have been recently trying some new stuff. I was getting a little tired there for a bit. This tag is a perfect example of all the new things I have been experimenting with. My Tiny Attacher, the Spritz bottles with the Pearl Ex, hairspray, Alcohol Inks on metal and my newest toy, the distressing hammer.

A BEVY OF MONSTERS

If you are looking for a great Halloween card that is UNDER 10 MINUTES to build this is it. I made a variety of these to give you different ideas of creeps you can make. From start to finish these Halloween cards are a breeze and would be perfect for a class, office and for some friends. I made these in between making projects...mostly waiting for things to dry! The googlie eyes are different sizes make them so cute.

All my fun cards together

I cut the cards to 5x5. Then I cut a 4 3/3x 4 3/4 black for the black behind the googlie eyes. Pick your coloured carstock and rip. I distressed the torn edges a bit then mounted it onto the black cardstock, trim if needed. Make sure to rip an opening for the eyes and mouth if you need. If you do fangs, just cut the fangs from the scraps and tuck it in. I bent mine a bit.

Onto my project...HALLOWEEN HOME DECOR! I have been cutting banners ALL WEEK! This banner is a Birthday Bash cut with layered SPOOKY Halloween paper. The stamps are Pumpkin Mickey Hat Betty and Betty Skellington , click HERE to see Pumpkin Betty.

Betty Skellington is punched out using SU Scallop punch.

Font is cut from Sophisticated...LOVE IT!

I used beads from Walmart, 9 for $2

I puncher MS Bat Fence punch for a topper.

GHOST POOP ANYONE?

Welcome to Simply Betty Stamps, 12 Days of Halloween

On the 5th day of Halloween... there were Five Scary SPOOKS...BOO!

Who doesn't need Ghost Poop? If you want to find the ghosts you have to look closely. After all ghosts are hard to find. Here's a hint...there are a few spooking across the bag. They are very ghostly! I used opaque cotton white Stays On ink with my roller stamp. I used a roller with Trick or Treaters and made them ghostly. Then I added a little black ink to help them pop from the poop.

The topper is a Tim Holtz folder and I de-embossed it with some shimmery grey paper.

Witchy Boo Betty is flying by with her sPOOky cat.

I added this charm I picked up from Walmart and tied with some mesh screening.

With 3 ghostly trick or treaters (floating behind the bat fence), a bag of ghost poop I needed one more GHOST! But only if your counting. So I made this cute quick ghost card to go with the ghost poop! The paper is a pearl coloured paper that I added a little black. Just tear paper!

Both Ghostly projects together! All the stamped sentiments are the new BEWITCHED set from Scrappy Moms Stamps.

It's still October and ALL month it's Breast Cancer Awareness!

Tickled Pink Stamps Pink Ribbon Lolita Lilith is rockin! Another week getting together with my Crafty BFF's and this was my card for us to build. I wanted to a breast cancer card with my girlfriends...and my visiting sister in law. Yep, I made them colour! I used some old pink and brown paper and this Pink Ribbon, ribbon I got from Walmart! Perfect fit!

This COURAGE stamp is a Scrappy Moms Stamps sentiment dedicated to HOPE!

Drippy Goo punch with pink Stickles looks YUMMY!

Welcome to What's New Wednesday

This weeks Guest Designer is Tracy with My Creative Place.

Thank you Nicole for having me as your guest here today. My name is Tracey Orchard. I'm an expat Canadian living in Brisbane Australia. I've been a paper crafter both professionally and as a hobby for over 12 years.

I love creating with paper especially cardmaking. I dabble in scrapbooking, mainly Disney related stuff as I'm a bit of a Disney nut as well. My main craft blog is My Creative Place. I have a separate blog dedicated to my Disney Scrapbooking, which I'm sad to say has been a little neglected of late.

I'm currently on three design Teams Beyond The Burtonesque Dolls, Christmas Cards All Year Round and DownUnder Direct Inspirations.

My latest project is designing digi stamps and cutting files. I love working and creating with my Cricut Expression, but sometimes feel a little limited with the cartridges. I've been designing my own cutting files for just over a year now and recently started a new blog Platypus Creek Digitals.

HALLOWEEN DECOR

Here's and easy Home Decor project you can whip together in no time, Witches Hats! You can go easy peasy like I did or you can go crazy and add lot's of goodies!

I had my friend cut and help make these rosette's as I am not very good at them. She did share a trick if you haven't made them. Tape the back with some scotch tape and that will keep them from ripping. I wrapped paper around the cone and glued it. I found an x-acto knife works well here and you can hide the rough cut to the back and with ribbon. I had made these wee witches tags awhile back, cut from All Wrapped Up and then I just popped them on. Essentially clearing off some space on my table.

FEATHERS EVERYWHERE...BEWARE THE BOA! Spiders adorn the hats are all from the $1 store.

When all the hats are together they spell "BOO". The hats I grabbed at Michaels for about $5 each.

I tried not to get to crazy with embellishing these witches hats. After all they will have to be stored. I don't need pieces missing so keep that in mind when creating. I love to add new Halloween projects to my house every year! Thanks for popping in and if you left me a comment you're AWESOME!

WEDDING TAG

I am leaving in 10 minutes so QUICK post! I wanted to show you the wedding tag I made for a wedding I'm leaving for right now. The invitations asked for no boxed gifts so I went for a bottle tag and nice bottle of wine:) The metal bits are from Home Depot and aged with Alcohol Ink.

Tag is a Tim Holtz and I stamped "For the Newlyweds"

Today is the 15th, so I distressed a #15 sticker, then cut this frame to make it a shaker with gold beads. The the 2 washers represent wedding rings.

The Tulle is cut from one of my old Halloween Costumes then tied.

This tag has Oct and 15 popped out with Diamond Glaze.

I added a small 3x3 card on the back and attached a brown $100 bill with a safety pin. Even the bottle looks aged! Let me know what you think? It's my first wedding tag.
