Baby it's Cold Outside

I finished up a few of my crafty commitments to make a couple new ornaments.  I wanted to create a little holiday scene from view outside looking in.  I cut the Window & Window Box die and created a small shadow box for everything to be tucked neatly inside.
I saw One Lucky Day had created a similar stunning little scene with the Vignette Boxes that you can check out HERE!  Always a perfect spot to find inspiration.

The window and box was cut with some chipboard and the woodgrain tiding paper.  The depth of the sides are 1" to create a shadow box.  I added some acetate for glass so I could add some frost.  Apply some matte medium in the corner.

Once the matte medium is dry apply clear rock candy crackle paint so it will look frosted.  Don't forget to paint the window box and wrap paper to the inside and outside of the shadow box.

I want the window box to pop out so I could stuff it.  So I cut some wee pieces on an angle to attach.  Don't forget to make a hole for the twine to hang.  Gather some holiday trinkets and start decorating.  Don;t forget... alcohol ink is great for metal!

I created a swag of greens and punched put some bows.

A peek inside this pretty scene.

Vintage ornaments are stuffed in the window box and the greenery is spilling out.

I made one so I might as well make 2... since I'm already cutting and covered in glitter.

This one has a wreath topped with a bow and a mini deer all nestled in.

Add some snow and pinecones.

A tree with red berries and stacked presents.

My little tree is filling up with homemade ornaments and I couldn't be happier.  I will be making these again!

  3. I saw this post a while back, but neglected to comment. I love this design from the frosty windows to the garland to the window box. Very inventive use of the window die.
