Rainbow Carp

I wanted to have a little fun with my Koi stamp from my new Upstream set releasing on February 1st.  The other day I made a Hyperlapse video on my adding a lot of color to my Koi.  Check it out HERE.
Well, I had the inked up image sitting on my desk.  Guess I should make something!  Starting with a #10 Tag.

I spritzed the image and set it aside.  With the other Koi in the set I created a resist.  While that cooled I grabbed my Versamark pen and used it for the Koi then coated it in UTEE which creates a thick wet look.

I used distress sprays tumbled glass and twisted citron over the resist.  It created a pretty watery background making the resist Koi pop.  Once dry I used my Bubbles stencil and texture paste for bubbles.

I found by adding a little heat to the texture paste it puffs up a little.  perfect for adding some blueprint sketch distress ink.

I cut the greens from garden greens die on grungboard.  With the negative cut I thought it might be a nice layer so it became a stencil.  Perfection...

I sprayed the green cuts with twisted citron and lucky lover.  With the left over distress spray ink on the mat I could ink my ribbon and create a quick background I had already stamped.  Just set aside when you need a background.

I added some more ink to the greens.  Then I looked at my UTEE.  I added some to the greens and the enamel makes it look like their are droplets of water.  More watercolor paper and the Jumbo Tattered Floral die!

I need a Lily flower so the small flower from the Jumbo Tattered Flower die.  Spritzed with yummy abandon coral and water.  Crinkle, pinch and ink the edges.  Then I added an antique silver metal button charm from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies.

I popped the Koi up on 3D Foam squares so I can tuck things in behind.  Then I grabbed the "Remember to make memories" stamp from the Fallen Blossom set.

Layer it all up and check out this watery Koi fish stamp.  I love how my Distress inks, markers and sprays make this Koi look vibrant.

The sentiment is stamped over the resist and texture paste bubbles.  It's broken up and I love it.  I almost covered it up... NAH...

I love the Lily in the corner with some added tiny tattered floral flowers rolled and not rolled.  Adding UTEE added a thick watery look to the Koi fish stamp and garden greens cuts.

The Koi looks like he's swimming under the flower and greens!

These Stamps are available to pre-order now.  I encourage you to ask you LSS to carry them.  So we can support all our LSS.

  6. OK, Nicole, now you've done it! I was just going to leave you one word--"BEAUTIFUL", but now after reading every single word, and sitting on the edge of my seat to see how this all came together, I must write you a novel. What a gorgeous fishie, just at the start, but adding that UTEE is brilliant (wished I'd thunk it!) for making him ummm, slimy, but in a good way. (Sorry, I don't generally like fish, but I make exceptions for Koi, especially yours!) What a vibrant focal panel, but then you layered up on that artful watercolor-y background that just makes me gasp! This is gorgeous from start to finish! I'll send you my address!
