Haunted Dwellings

Well we all know it had to happen!

Once I got my hands on the Village Dwellings die I was going to make them creepy.  I had so much fun doing it.  It all started with a 6:30AM visit to my craft room.  I have been itching to cut these new Tim Holtz Sizzix dies!

Here's how these work if you don't already have them.  The Village Dwelling BIGZ XL is the main die and the Village Church and Snow Covered Country Cabin are the accessory dies.  This way you can create 3 different dwellings.  I love creating 3D so these are perfect for me!
Warning: this post is loaded with images...

A few pictures to show the start... I cut my haunted dwellings with mat board.

Of course some wilted violet distress spray stain.

I used black soot distress spray stain for the main roof and base then sand the edges.

I used wilted violet of the black parts where I sanded.

Then black soot on the wilted violet pieces.

It's starting to look haunted!

I used my spritzer to add some more black soot.

Lets Haunt...

I love the bold Halloween colours.

I used twisted citron distress spray for the mini woodland.  Then attached a couple of ants.

I sprayed with wilted violet distress spray then went over with wilted violet ink to intensify the colour.

You can see some of the black soot spritzed on the roof.

I tucked one of my pumpkins along the front with a crawly ant.

I did not attach so I could add a battery tea light.

The windows are frosted and yes...that is a wee spider on the pane.

The Bell Tower Church.

I stacked the Bell Tower on top of Eileen Hull Box, Square die and it's a perfect fit.  Aren't the letterpress blocks awesome!

I added the graveyard, some moss, the Frightful Design Ephemera and some paper from Regions Beyond paper stack.

Ummm... ya I love this one.

The twisted citron is electric!

For the posts I cut small wood dowels and wrapped with scrap paper I used on the Box die.  Then I added my mini bat.

For the tower I used the mini lantern instead of the cut provided.

I love how this look lite up.

I used the bricked stencil and texture paste coloured with hickory smoke for the base of the Bell Tower Church and the top.  I then cut the door in half and used it as a double door.  {Don't panic if the door rips off...work with it}

I added another battery tea light inside this one too.

I think it needs one more Haunted Dwelling... Watch for that coming soon.  I have to wait for my carved pumpkin distress inks.

I have added my expanded Haunted Dwellings to the Halloween Town I built last year.

Thank you for being brave enough to stop by my haunt and scrolling through all the photo's.  I didn't want you to miss anything.  I hope you're getting this die and if you weren't maybe now you might want too.
Happy Haunting
