Scrap your Summer

Join me on the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Blog for a Scrapbook Layout...?  Oh yeah... I went all scrappy for this post.  I am sharing my NEW about to release TINBIT TRAVELS Collection with Wild Whisper!    Swing by the    Creative Scrapbooker Magazine Blog  for a full tutorial!   PIN IT   EAT. SLEEP. CRAFT. {repeat}

Bling...or maybe just a little!

I know you're looking at this and wondering where the "Bling" is for the Frilly and Funkie Challenge.  I have my moments of bling but generally I'm not what one might call a Bling Crafter.  Even my wedding ring has 2 tiny diamonds.  My MIL couldn't understand why I didn't want a BIG diamond.  Hehe...

I've been wanting to make an altered clipboard for awhile.  I recently saw the very talented Brenda at Bumblebees and Butterflies altered clipboard and loved it!  Now, she went all out on hers and it looks AMAZING BALLS!!!  I plan on using mine so I couldn't go all out.

 I started with a clipboard from the $1 Store.  This is what mine looked like...I googled the image since I didn't take a photo.  Pretty...

To get a worn leather look I glued some glue n' seal onto the board then applied tissue paper.  I went to town stamping with a bunch of my script stamps.

To alter the chrome clip I used distress paints broken china, peeled paint, pumice stone and weathered wood.  To finish off the grunge I combined alcohol inks and blotted.

One of the ways I added some bling... a yummy gumdrop.  See, it's there!

I cut with the postage die, inked, stamped more subtle bling, clear rock candy distress ink.  Just adds a little shimmery look.

At the bottom I glued the frameworks honeycomb.  Since I made this for where I work...I needed it to be functional.  Not just grungy.

Come share your blinged out projects with everyone at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge!  Thanks everyone for popping in to see!  Can't wait to see what you make.

  1. Fantastic altered clipboard Nicole! I love that you can still use it too. The crackle and gumdrop are great ways of showing bling doesn't have to be 'in your face'! Jenny x

  2. This is a super project and a great idea. Clipboards are so handy but so ugly. I would love to keep one handy if it looked this cool.
    Hugs!

  5. Very impressive! it really looks old and grungy. I like the look of the aged clip. Its always nice to add a least a little bit of sparkle or bling to finish a project off. :)

  8. Nicole, I love your clipboard, perfectly aged without a lot of fuss! I take it the postcard--just perfect by the way, with the sparkle--is removable, so it's not in the way. You've thought of everything on this functional clipboard--well thought out! I love a useful project. Wish I had thought of the dollar store for these--my husband asked me to buy 5 for his classroom last night, and I picked them up for $6 for a 3 pack at an office store. That's $7 I could have saved for crafts! Ha! Ha!
