Vintage Advent

I'm back with another Advent Calendar. This time it's for someone else.  You may recall the Advent I made HERE for my family.  I took it to a crop where I was teaching make n' takes as a festive display.  One thing led to another and I was asked to make one.  But the show stopper here isn't the calendar boxes, it's the car!

I was asked if I could find this car to pull the box it would make it all the more special.  All I knew was it was a convertible Impala that the family already owns.  I found a photo of the car and went with it. It took me about an hour to locate the car (HERE) and when I did I was sooo excited. I think I got the last one.

Time to check this calendar out.

I got cutting right away, 24 Candy Drawer Boxes.  Oh and munching...mmmm Miss Vickies!

And more cutting for paper and tires.

I needed 16 tires for the platforms.  Having these Distress Spray Stains makes my job way easier and faster!

Box assembly took me about 10 hours.  That's inside and out, gluing, distressing edges and inking.

I recently pinned how to Antique Ornaments.  I figured I would try it on my $1 Store red jingles.

It worked great!

I decorated the car by "tacking" the lights and woodland bits into place.

This 1958 Chevy Impala was perfect too some holiday cheer.

I sprayed the wreath with evergreen bough, attached the mini wreath and "bow" and some mirrored stars.

In the front I added a mini wreath.  For the rear a woodland tree decorated with beads, sprayed again in evergreen bough then topped off with a mirrored star.

I filled the trunk with presents.  I cut the mini retro presents and made another one with the small box from Eileen Hull's Squares/ Cubes die.  I embellished with stickles, red tinsel twine and distress glittery bits.  I tucked some greens and a tattered pinecone in there too.

I attached a Thilits Label to the EH die present with the Family's name stamped.  I used Heavy Twine for tying down the woodland tree and attaching the platforms.

There's those Antiqued Jingles... another Thinlets Label, Heavy Twine and Tinsel Twine stacked ontp the smallest "present" box from EH Square/Cube die.

All the Candy Drawer Boxes have been sanded and inked to create a vintage look!  Love when the paper rips...so the ink sticks!

Each box is stamped and decorated on the inside.

I connect each platform with heavy twine and hinge clips allowing for easy storage.  I ran tinsel twine along the front for an added vintage look.

For the last stack of boxes I layered up distress glittered Stacked Snowflakes and attached to the rear.

I love these micro lights.  They really have a vintage look and easily attach to the car with a little hot glue.

Here it is...the families car fully restored and amazing!  I think I nailed it ;)

I hope you like this version of my Advent Calendar.  It's gone to a good home and I'm sure many years of treats!
