Compendium of Curiosities 3- Worn Cover

I was in love when I saw Linda Ledbetter's CC3C.  I thought this would be easy...WRONG!  But only because I LOVE Halloween so my thoughts are swimming with ideas.  This took me 3 days which is unusual for me.  Now, I am working on a few projects at once...which also isn't normal.  And a pretty horrific migraine yesterday so I was slowed a bit.  I find after a migraine I get a huge burst of creativity.  Although I'm tired and sore today I pushed through to finish off and reign in those ideas.

My first Worn Cover

Luckily, I have a few lying around.  Do I create a Christmas one or Halloween?  Pfft...why did I ask myself that!

I wanted to work around this couple from the Found Relatives.  I did a little distress tinting and tucked them into the Big Ticket die.  Funny, I was wishing I had this die.  And then I saw it on my shelf...and I do.  Oops, some one owns a lot of dies.  I created the big ticket to look like Eroded Metal...YUM!

I ended up making a shaker box with these gross Ants.  I cut clear packaging with the Big Ticket die and crackled the "glass".  Creepy.

I threw every Halloween/ Autumn die I own at it.  Well, not really.  Movers and Shapers mini pumpkin and the Autumn Gatherings.  Then a Layered Leaf cut in the back.

I wanted to add a word band.  But I wasn't feeling it.  So I bent it, then I was feeling it.

Behind the couple I added another Layered Leaf, a tattered pine cone flower and this creepy spider.

For the spine I added the skeleton rub.  The book is inked with distress inks.  When I added texture paste with my Halloween and Shattered stencils it absorbed the ink.

The back of the book!  Here I stamped the skull from Apothecary.  You can see more texture paste and stenciling.

More Eroded Metal, more crackled packaging that I inked with honeycomb. I layered a glassine cut layered leaf the mini antlers and this mini skull from the $1 Store.

When the book is opened more creepiness inside.  The Laboratorie paper is the background with more distress ink and stencils.

I layered lots of Halloween cuts here.  My first time using the headstone.

I inked the ring binder so it wasn't so chrome looking then another rub.

I inked up the pumpkin parts with more glassine and rusty hinge stain.  The parts are painted rusty hinge then crackle painted.  I love my owl perched.

The Worn Cover open.

I loaded in some of my Halloween tags.

A good way to keep seasonal tags.

All done and tucked away.  I have just the spot to display this in my Crafty space.

Thanks, I hope you like my Halloween Explosion for the Worn Cover.  Be sure to check out this AWESOME Challenge and Inspiration Emporium is the sponsor.  WOOHOO!

  6. Thanks for the info on the fact that the texture paste took on the colour from the cover below! That is a useful bit of info! Saves my distress pads as they get quite rough when used over texture paste! I love the rich colours you have used and all the dies of course. I don't celebrate Halloween, but I really appreciate your cover!
