Tattered Pinecone A Journey

It's true...I haven't enjoyed my Tattered Pinecone.  In fact, I loathed my tattered pinecone.  We just never connected.  This is unusual for me and ANY of my TH Sizzix dies.  I love the end result of this die but I have always hated the journey to get there.  Until today...
I'm not going to lie!  Seeing Tim's tags the 1st of the month are a creative highlight.  I love the inspiration.  But there they were...those tattered pinecones as beautiful little flowers.  This is a creative hurdle I have never succeeded at...UNTIL TODAY!  Today is my day and I wasn't stopping until I perfected this challenging die.

BEHOLD, 30 flowers.  You read that right, 30!  Do you Facebook?  These are the dorky things we chat about on my Facebook!

It took me until about flower 12 to start enjoying making these.  FINALLY, I have arrived to this creative plateau!

The Project...Altered Metal Frame!

It started with wanting a photo of my sweetie and I for the frame.  I LOVE this man!

My husband has always written me love notes so adding this awesome "nature walk" stamp to canvas is fitting.

I used the medium tied bow for the top of the ornate frame.  I then inked these chit chat words with tumbled glass ink.

I love adding metal to all my projects.

Ohhh what's this idea-ology thing called?  Ummm...I call it the knob.  Anyway I hung the ornate frame from it like a vintage photo.

I layered with the lattice frameworks die

I bunched up 3 of my flowers!

I cut the tiny tabs tag and stamped the #hashtags "love".  I crackled the mini jar and glued the cork to the side.

The letterpress is a great layer.  I painted distress paint tumbled glass to our initials then attached a crown.

The floral bouquet looks great in the crackled jar!

I doubled this flower making it a big one.  Attached to the top with the green sprigs of greenery.  I added some clear rock candy for a sugary effect.

I'm not a flower kinda girl...but I think that has changed!

It's always bothered me not enjoying making pinecones or flowers with this die.  But now that I spent 3 hours making 30 flowers I love it. Thanks for checking out my flowers...oh ya and the frame.

  3. Wow! Congrats on mastering the pinecone die and the flowers challenge (just ordered that die after I saw Tim's tag and the beautiful flowers you can create from it...well, if you can. Honestly I am not too good at fiddling these together...so I can understand why you and that special die had to make friends first ;).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this altered frame! There's so much thought and goregousness in it! And the picture of you and your husband is so lovely! Perfectly framed I'd say ;)

This may be my favourite piece you have created. Maybe because of the subject matter, it is so sweet.
I love all of your attention to the details.
I don't have this die…even though Wayne tried to convince me that I needed it, teehee.

  14. I have to admit - that I dont love my pine cone die as well. I think I got a defective one too cos the outer spiral part of theend doesnt cut all the way through. That might be the biggest part of the reason I dont love the die as much as I would like to. Big up to you for creating all those roses - just making one with the die is enough to send me into fits or frustration punctuated with piercing howling. You have my respect!
