12 Tags of 2013- December Tag(s)

I DID IT ALL 12 TAGS!

I played along with all 12 tags and a photo tutorial for you;)  I have never used the frosted film before and to be honest I really didn't know much about it.  Pfft...I'm in love.  But then I always am with any new technique I learn!  I have 2 tags (yes 2 again) because I had so much fun with the frosted film.

I started with picket fence distress paint on grungeboard for the skates.

Once dried I added the frosted film!  Love that it has adhesive on the back!
I ran it through my skate die.  The shimmer is FABULOUS!
The frosted film needs a permanent ink.  Another reason to use my distress paints gathered twigs and broken china!  I applied with a sponge.  Crafty Eh...

I couldn't find the Clearly for Art that was used by Tim.  Like that's going to stop me!  I did use some vellum.  Attaching the frosted film to the vellum and cutting with the tattered pine cone and tattered poinsettia worked pretty well.

I don't have the inks Tim used so I used my alcohol inks.  The effect is really pretty.

With a swiping motion I inked the tag with picket fence distress paint.
Load the craft mat with tumbled glass stain, spritz with water, drag the tag and heat dry!

Using up all your stain on your mat by inking another tag is a great way to not waste.  I cut adhesive backed cork for the heal then inked with vintage photo.  The metal skate is a scrap of mirrored sheets I had.  WOW!
I used the stripes stencil for inking.  One of my favorite stencils.
I inked the edges with evergreen bough.  What a pretty colour this is.  So crisp!

I don't have a splatter tool.  But a tooth brush works just fine.

I stamped the Ice Skate stamp from Old Fashion Christmas and embossed.  This stamp is perfect for the vintage skate.
The laces, I'm not going to lie...SUCK!  I picked up a pack of big needles for the twine.  I went through the grungeboard near the toe.  I switched to a smaller needle and it helped.  I don't redo...I just go with it.
I LOVE THIS FLOWER!  I used a sprocket gear for the tattered poinsettia.  It's all splattered!
Tag # 2

Every year I make my Mom tags for her tree.  It's all she uses on her tree for decorations. This is her 3rd year and I think I've made her over 20 tags!  I wanted to make her a tag with her parents, my Grands.  Now that they are both gone I thought it would be a nice addition to her tree.

This is my favorite photo of my Grands on their wedding day and I've used it before.  I printed on photo paper and coloured the flowers with my distress marker.
I cut a #8 tag with the Kraft Christmas paper stash layered with...frosted film.  So shimmery!  I think this is my last piece of this paper:(
I added some mirrored stars next to the festive greenery.  The ornate frame die is cut on chipboard and coated in pumice stone distress glitter.  A great vintage look for this old photo.
My 2 Tags.  Vastly different using the same frosted film product!
I had a blast doing ALL the 12 Tags of 2013.  It's my first time making them all since starting them 3 December's ago!  A big thank you to everyone that has come by every month to check my version.

Also, thank you to Tim for dreaming this stuff up.  My love of this style crafting is it is ever evolving and keeping my creativity engaged.  Who can forget Mario...for all his tantalizing BTS; posts keeping us all intrigued.

Lastly, thanks to Tracy over at Tracys Treasures.  We had a pack to motivate each other to do every tag!  And we have...or she will have by December 31st.  Check out her blog.  She's a dedicated blogger!

See you in January... for 12 Tag of 2014!

  1. I love your skate! And the foil blades! So creative! Your mind must never stop! hahahaha... Super cute. I think I bought the skate die today.... shoot can't remember. I kinda went hoarder like again today. LOL I am entering a 12 step program soon! LOL Or maybe not... it's too much fun. ;) I like that the vellum worked out, I tried a scrap piece of plastic from some packaging and I think it might work as well. I bought a spellbinder flower die for the anemone flower I think, it has the rugged edges like a poinsettia so I am hoping that I can wing it and make that work. I have the poinsettia ordered at my little scrap store so maybe it'll get here before Xmas and I can use that then. :) Anyhow, you are so amazing! That's what I was trying to say!!! ;)

Both tags are beautiful. I love the poinsettia on the one tag, but the one for your grandmother just touches my heart. Also thanks for the shout out…I will get this one done before the 31st, teehee.
