DIY Craft Room Storage

***UPDATE; SCROLL DOWN***

I DID IT! I made my Crate Storage for my craft room!  This is the first of my changes to my room and I'm super happy with how it turned out.  I took lots of pictures so you can see what I did...with a lot of help from my hubby and son;)

All the crates I picked up at Michaels for 50% off.  I enlisted help over the 2 day sale to get all 9 boxes!

The boxes have stringers attached to the back.  Then they are screwed into each other at the front.

I picked up a 4ft piece of pine for the table top.  But we came up a little short.  With some of the left over pine strip my husband cut a couple end pieces, glued and screwed:)

The table top has a soft round edge my husband routered for me.  Doesn't even look like I made a mistake;0)

Because it's pine I painted it with a pre-stain.  This will allow the stain to apply evenly.

TA DA...I used a Walnut Stain.  These little drawers got a bit of stain rubbed on them, but only a little.  I wanted contrast.

Before I Varathaned, I grabbed my Cargo Stencil.  I wanted the boxes to have an old look.

Check it out...after I stenciled I sanded lightly.  You want to see it there but it's very subtle.  Then add the Varathane sealer.  I did a couple coats.
I sanded the edges so it would look worn.  Also, I distressed the work with my TH hammers by beating it up!

Once it was dry we moved it down to my craft room.  This is when I waxed the table top.  I left it over night to cure.  It was hard not to fill it.

While it was curing I labeled my storage boxes.  They had these Recollection Boxes on sale at Michaels, 4 for $10. These boxes hold a ton.  That's a real mess back there!

Once my crate shelving is cured time to fill it up!

All my dies stack great!  I love seeing them all.  My Movers and Shapers store on a Dollar Store cookie sheet.  And they sit perfectly on the labeled boxes.

I still have boxes to fill.  But I made a good dent.

My craft room will be built over time.  I still have a whole work station to build and rustic wall shelving to be hung.  But it's a start.  This is by no means a perfect uniformed storage solution.  However, this is exactly the look I want!  I want imperfection and I want to see all my crafty things.  The cost of this was about $150.  There are easier storage solutions.  However, they wouldn't look like this;)

Thanks for stopping by!
***UPDATE***
I have added my 2nd set of crate storage to my craft room. This DIY craft storage fills my whole wall with a total of 15 crates. Adding the table top makes more usable work space!
