Family Shadow Box

I decided last week I was going to make my first Shadow Box.  Well, make that 2 shadow boxes for each of my parents for Christmas.  It was actually easier than I thought and really fun! I picked up the Tim Holtz Configuration Boxes and a bunch of fun embellishments.  I also have my dies and papers so I was all set.  

 

For my Mom's Shadow Box I used my Grandmother's (her Mom) stamps and layered.  I cut JOY using grunge board, a mini gear and a pine cone I had.

 

Using some Scrabble pieces to spell JOY with a little acorn topper glued into place.  Set in the back is an "Imagine" charm.

 

Keys and locks are fun too.  But really anything goes in these boxes.

 

This one is for my Dad's Shadow Box.  Using the Destiny charm, the number 5 since we are a family of 5 and again more pine cones.  They are so cute.

 

I cut the mini dress form with cork, attached a honeycomb paper dress and added the spool wrapped in twine. 

 

I printed the photo's on printer paper then layered all my goodies in.

 

I was pressed for time (1 day) to make both of these.  I kept the design similar so I did all the cuts at once.  One box took me about 6 hours to make, but I was making all the cuts for 2.  The 2nd box was simple.  I had all the cuts ready and I simply built having it done in an hour.

 

I have a few more of these to make.  The possibilities are endless.  So, if you haven't tried a Shadow Box you should.  Each box tells a story!
