SMS Release and an Altered Money Tin

Altered Money Tin

Scrappy Moms Stamps is having a double release and I used one of them on this project!  It's my first Altered Tin and oh what fun it was.  My nieces is celebrating her Sweet 16 on Sunday and she asked for what every teen wants...MONEY!  I couldn't just hand her a card and envelope with cash.  I had to make it fun!

So I took this metal "Celebrate It" tin and made it into something way cooler.

All you need is some spray paint of your choice to change the lid colour.  Paper and ribbon would work too but I opted for paint.

I used my Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die and metal frame.

I embossed with copper embossing powder the clock, then distressed with Black Soot Distressing Ink.  The Happy 16 is SMS Hooray for Birthdays set.

Lets check out each fun folds!

From the Inside Out is perfect to start unfolding this gift!  I sued multiple stamp sets to create each layer along with dies.

Studio 49 for the Steampunk Man and light bulb stamped onto clear acetate.  I sealed with hairspray since I don't have Stays On ink.

I used Movers and Shapers Mini Jalopy, inked and crackled.  The "h & b" are cut with TH Word Play.

The balloons are tied with some new Halloween Bakers Twine, also from SMS!  The I stamped the "16" from Hooray for Birthdays set.

Once unfolding the layers we come to out first stash of cash tucked in this pocket I made.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY " is stamped using From the Inside Out and the 16 is a TH stamp.

The next fold has another goodie.  This time I decorated with stamps from my Grandmother.  She was a stamp collector and my family is honoring me with thousands of stamps to craft with.

I tied the bill to the small tag.  Then it's a quick cut to release the bounty.

My favorite fold!  I made the $20 bill into a dress and tied it to the small Movers and Shapers dress form.  To fan the fan folded bottom I attached using paper clips.  For this fold I used "sewing" embellishments including this pretty pin my GF made for me:)

I used From the Inside Out for this Altered Project.  Check out what I make using Pick of the Patch coming next week!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it or if you have any thoughts to improve on when I make another one;)
