NO BREAKFAST but the snow is gone

Today I'm working on my card for The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge on Tuesday May 4th. This is going to be such a fun challenge and I hope to see a lot of your crafty enteries!  And a little Blog Candy to win never hurts!

Ok, so just a little morning rant this morning and then we'll move onto my card!  I adore my family and there's nothing I wouldn't do for them, however, this morning they all SUCK!  Just a little because it's kinda funny.  Or at least it would be if it wasn't me it happened too.  The loving "SUPER MOM" that I am!  I put on my SUPER MOM cape last night and made my loving family a yummy Slow Cooker Spiced Oatmeal, (click this link in pink if you want the recipe) so this morning they would wake up to the smell of breakfast made.  Oh and it smelled amazing!!!  Now, I was happy to hear how excited they all were and out all the bowls and spoon came throughout the morning.  I went to grab a bowl, opened the lid and it was srapped clean!  NOTHING... and had been left on to bake into a cement like substance.  So not only do I not get this yummy nut, fruit and spiced oatmeal, but I get the scrub the crock pot!  Good thing I love them so much!

I picked this card because the sun is shining and the snow is gone!  YAY!  The image is stamped with Stays On black ink, onto clear vellum, then use a small brush and a little glue to colour the image in, sprinkle with embossing powder.  It's attached to the paper with brads, then layer with lots of paper!

***CNS NEWS***

It's almost GIVEAWAY time, 5 days left to follow my blog, leave a comment on the CREATE A CRITTER post and share my link to it!!!!  I was going for 100 followers, so 200 would be good for bragging rights...to myself!  Four away...

Tomorrow is "Inter" National Scrapbook Day and I will have a fun project posted with video for you to make too.  Links provided if you want to enter the challenge I entered!

Sympathy Card

With Sympathy

This morning I made a Sympathy card for my Mother in Law.  I'm not even sure if I've made one before.  It wasn't a "fun" card to make of course.  However, with the mutted colours and words like sympathy and I'm there for you, it turned out simple and pretty.  I used Graphically Speaking for the tree cut at 3".  I added the buttons too in mutted matching tones.  The card is an Easel Card and all the measurements are on this link.

I used all SU paper (I know you're shocked)!  The stamps I borrowed off my girlfriend and they are SU, Warmest Regards and Absolutely Fabulous.

***CNS NEWS***

I have updated CNS Famous Followers to include all my lovely new followers!  I so apperciate you all!  I've already mentioned this on CNS Facebook Page, (have you joined yet?) but as I was updating this morning I am now 8 away from 200 Followers!

Preserves Pear Card

Preserves Perfect Pear
This is my 2nd crafty fruit card off this cartridge.  There are so many fun things to craft with.  It goes well with the "Perfect Pear" stamp from SU called Picture This.  I cut the pear at 2 3/4" with layers to follow.  Then I cut the tags on the same page at 2" and 1 3/4" layered.  The holes don't line up when you layer so I stuck a button there. What got me going was the pear designer paper and it all went from there.  Then I added some Stikles for the seeds and accenting leaf.  Summer is coming (even though it snowed over night here) and with so many sweet images, this should be fun!  Can you say MOJITO!!!

GET READY TO HOP!!!!
Starting Tuesday, April 27th will be The Burtonesque Dolls first Blog Hop!  Feel free to follow The Burtonesque Dolls Blog so you won't miss anything.  My card is finally ready and I can't wait to share!  Show the love and follow my fellow Dolls.  Will you able able to figure out the clues?

Video Episode 9- Mile High Apple Pie

A little break from paper, cutters and Cricut to make a Mile High Apple Pie. I was supposed to make this for my family yesterday. However, the Mother's Day Explosion Box took all day to make, film and edit. As a Thank you to my DH and kids (since I monopolized the computer too) I made them this pie today, SURPRIZE!

Mile High Apple Pie
Pre Heat oven to 400 degrees

Pastry
3c Flour
1c Vegetable Shortening
1c Ice cold water
pinch of salt

Combine flour and salt in large mixing bowl, cut in shortening with pastry cutter.  Add cold water, mix until combined, form into ball.  Cut in half and roll out to 1/8" thickness for both top and bottom crusts.  Set half of the rolled crust into a pie plate, set aside.

Apple Mixture
12-14 lg Apples
3/4c Sugar
3tbsp Flour
2tsp Cinnamon
3tbsp Butter
pinch of salt (optional)

Topping
3tbs Sugar
4 tsp Cinnamon

Peel and thinly slice apples into a large mixing bowl.  Combine in a seperate bowl sugar, flour and cinammon then gently fold over apples until coated.  Pour apple mixture onto bottom crust, evenly spread out butter.  Take second half of rolled out crust and gently lay over the apple mixture.  Roll the top and bottom crusts together forming a seal and pinch for good seal.  Brush the top of your pie with water, sprinkle combined sugar and cinnamon.

Bake @ 400'
Time: 45-55 min
Serving: 8

Enjoy!

Create a Critter Giveaway and a card.

CRICUT CARTRIDGE GIVEAWAY
(Become a Follower and be sure to leave a comment to win...don't forget;)

My little Blog is approaching 100 Followers. I had mentioned I was thinking about doing a Giveaway to thank all my crafty Followers. Even if your already a follower enter for a chance to win.  I hear the "Create a Critter" cartridge is pretty exciting so I thought this would be a fun Blog Candy giveaway! This cartridge was not given to me by Provo Craft; I had to dig into my (husbands) pocket to make this happen!

But wait...(just like the infomercials, I love the "But Wait") there is a catch! Of course I'm looking to expand my creative reach with you all. All you have to do is...

1. Sign up to become a Follower (I'll try to enter you all on my CNS Famous Followers link)

3. Share the Love and Post a link on your blog to spread the word,
(if you have one and leave your link in the comments for other people to find you)

I will be announcing the Create a Critter winner Wednesday
May 5th! Right in between National Scrapbookers Day and Mothers Day!  Good Luck everyone!!!!!

Easel Card
I made this card to go with this post today.  However, I could not locate the cord for downloading.  Found it finally!  I squeak it in and here's hoping you all find it.  I missed my Stampin Up class this month as I was still off playing down in the US...or should I say Las Vegas.  My lovely friends made sure to make my cards for me and one of them was an Easel card.  So I measured, scored and used my Cricut to make one.

I used Graphically Speaking for the Butterfly.  The card is cut @ 8 1/2"x 4 1/4", scored at 4 1/4" and again at 6 1/4".  Then cut a piece of card stock at 4 1/4"x 4 1/4" and tape to last 2" the card or last score line.  Geez...can you follow that?  Cut accenting paper at 1/4" smaller then the card stock to get a nice layering.  Butterfly was cut at 2 1/2" and layer with the Blackout feature.

You Try:

Stamps: SU Whimsical Words (clear)
Paper: Basic Grey, Gable Green, SU pattern paper
Extras: Scallop Oval punch, Wide Oval punch, Graphically Speaking, ribbon

Cupcakes and Homebound

My last post before I'm home.  Sorry it took so long but Vegas waits for no one.  I was concerned taking my kids there, but it was a great place to visit with a family!  We stayed at Circus, Circus and the kids had a blast there and exploring the Srtip.  They loved all the fun shops and the bright lights, especially the 2 Vegas shows!
Every night we were all nestled back in our Motorhome by 10:00pm, well before any of the serious partying started.  Even the Flicker guys handing out the "Girly" cards would stop if they saw you had kids!  I was impressed:)

Yum, if you can't eat cupcakes, create them.  When I first got my Cricut I tried this cupcake from the Home Decor cart.  My kids are always heading off to parties so it's nice to have these on hand.  Blue for boys and pink for girls. The paper is from my scrap bin and it's a Stampin Up designer, pink.  Divine Swirl embossing folder on some lavender.

RECIPE:

Paper: Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, Lavender, Pixie Pink, designer
Extras: Home Decor cart, Divine Swirl embossing folder, Pixie Pink Ink, ribbon, SU Scallop Border punch

Grand Canyon and a Dad card

Grand Canyon, South Rim

The Grand Canyon was amazing...it should be seen!  It was cold and snowed a little.  We walked everywhere and we took a Helicopter Tour over the Canyon.  Then off to Sedona for a Pink Jeep Tour of the Ancient Ruins of the Yavapai Cliff Dwellings and drawings.  Arrived along Route 66 where the movie Cars was based!  Onto Hoover Dam, then Vegas:)

Card Time

I made this card at my Stampin Up card class right before I left.  There are so few Masculine cards so I added this one.  A great Father's Day card!

Woohoo...one shy of 80 Peeps!  Pop into CNS Famous Followers and check out new Followers to my blog and get quick links to thier blogs:)  Welcome #79 Janet, thanks for following and have fun browsing:)

When we head into Vegas, I'm hoping to find a Crafty Outlet store????  I was thinking as I'm closing in on 100 Blog Buddies, I might find some fun stuff for a Give Away???  I'll let you know if I have any luck.  Also, while I was in the Grand Cnyon I picked up a scrapbooking kit, stickers and patches:)  My boys have been collecting patches and Jr Ranger badges.  So, I started collecting for scrapbooking!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
